Steering the Partnership as Ruddington Networking Resumes

In common with many other activities in our village, the popular, face-to-face ‘Ruddington Business Partnership’ meetings were put on hold early in 2020 when the Coronavirus pandemic struck. With all the UK’s hospitality venues closed for a time by COVID-19, then restrictions in place after that, the monthly networking sessions at The Next Episode on Dutton’s Hill were substituted by fortnightly online meetings via Zoom – incorporating Rushcliffe Business Partnership networkers from across the Borough. Post ‘lockdown’, just as sessions in our village were getting back into their swing last…

Keep It Covered?

This Thursday sees the lifting of the government’s so-called ‘Plan B’ Coronavirus measures in England – brought in by Boris Johnson last November due to the threat of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 overwhelming our NHS. Whilst the number of cases in the UK surged again over Christmas, recent data suggests a levelling off of Coronavirus infections and a generally less severe illness from the new strain – at least for those who are vaccinated or who have had a previous COVID-19 infection and recovered from it. Therefore, from…

Our Village Market Turns Three!

Organisers of Ruddington Village Market are planning something of a celebration this February – as the popular, monthly event celebrates its third birthday. What’s Happening at our Heritage Railway?

For almost two years now a most familiar weekend sound drifting across Ruddington has been sadly missing – that of the distant whistles and gentle chugging of steam trains making their way in and out of Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre. Please find our January 2023 update >>HERE<<. In fact, heritage passenger services last ran at Great Central Railway (Nottingham) (as it was then known) during the February 2020 half term – before all trains were cancelled and the centre closed to visitors due to the initial Coronavirus outbreak. Whilst other attractions at…

Country Park Café Construction Commences

Rushcliffe Borough Council has announced that work has finally begun on the refurbishment of its Education & Visitor Centre at Rushcliffe Country Park. The upgrade was first mooted in 2015 – and followed by a public consultation two years’ later. Improvements to the building will include the addition of a permanent café, an enhanced visitors’ centre and a bookable conference room, along with improved landscaping and toilet facilities. The authority says it’s also being ‘carbon clever’ at the popular Ruddington tourist attraction by installing solar panels and an air source heat pump…

Ruddington Green Goes Green

Cyclists now have some further options to secure their bikes in our village centre, thanks to two double cycle racks just installed on The Green by Ruddington Parish Council. The idea of more robust bike racks for Ruddington, in addition to those outside the Co-op and the wall brackets attached to some existing shop fronts, was suggested by Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) as part of the ‘Traders’ Village Improvement Plan’. Julie Smith of RVCP explains: “It was felt that there was a lack of places near the High Street…
