COVID Safety Concerns at Country Park

As we enter the second week of the new national Coronavirus ‘lockdown’, concerns are being expressed by users of Rushcliffe Country Park that ‘social distancing’ and other COVID-safe guidelines are not being followed. Police Incident on Easthorpe Street

There have been some dramatic scenes in our village this evening (Thursday 12th November) after a van ended up on the pavement lodged between parked cars and the wall of a terraced cottage on one of Ruddington’s oldest roads. These three photographs, taken by John Noble of The Three Crowns, show how a street lamp was demolished during the incident, which happened at around 7pm apposite his pub on a narrow section of Easthorpe Street. It’s now two and a half months since we said ‘goodbye to Shane’ at 15, Church Street – and that RUDDINGTON.info revealed that Elms Farm of Costock would soon be moving into Ruddington’s historic butchers’ premises.  So what’s going on?! Village Tennis Star Secures Title Double in Prague!

Ruddington’s James Shaw has completed his 2020 season in fine style after winning both the quad singles and quad doubles titles in the Wheelchair Tennis at the Prague Cup Czech Indoor.  The 25-year-old world No.19, who is part of the LTA’s Wheelchair Tennis World Class Programme, beat fellow Brit and top seed Antony Cotterill 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in the quad singles final before partnering Cotterill to make it two wins from two round-robin matches in the quad doubles event.   Second seed Shaw, who started his quad singles campaign with a…

Village Crime Hiatus is Over

You may be pleased to hear that, just prior to the new ‘lockdown’, Ruddington enjoyed one of its ‘quietest’ months in recent history when it comes to recorded crime. After 23 incidents were reported to Rushcliffe Police during September, during all of October only 6 crimes in our village came to the attention of its officers – a drop of 74%. ‘Lockdown’ Library Arrangements

In line with the UK Government’s new national COVID-19 rules, it’s been confirmed Ruddington Library will not be opening during the new ‘lockdown’. As it stands, this means its doors will remain closed to villagers this Friday (November 6th), and on future Tuesdays and Fridays when it should have been open, through until Tuesday December 1st. It’s possible this closure may last even longer if current Coronavirus restrictions are extended, or if they are followed by tougher, local restrictions in Rushcliffe. Ruddington’s Buses During Second ‘Lockdown’

As we come under a second national ‘lockdown’ in England, Ruddington’s main bus operator says – this time around – both its Navy 3 and Green 10 village services will continue to run to their usual schedules. Back in March, when the original raft of COVID-19 instructions asked us to avoid all travel and stay at home during the Coronavirus pandemic, Nottingham City Transport reduced all its timetables to just ‘core services’ for essential workers. Although pupils will be able to stay in class during the Government’s new, national COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ from Thursday, the Coronavirus has already had a noticeable impact at one of our village schools this week.
