Parking provision for those who visit our village centre by bicycle is set to be improved further by the addition of three more pairs of cycle racks on High Street and Church Street. It follows Ruddington Parish Council‘s installation of two pairs of cycle racks on The Green in January as part of the Ruddington Village Centre Partnership ‘Traders’ Village Improvement Plan’. The driving force behind a Ruddington nature reserve is among the winners of this year’s ‘Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards’. For 2021 a ‘physical’ ceremony returned – and was held last night (December 8th) at The Rushcliffe Arena. A Ruddington charity which was set up four years’ ago to give a better quality of life to dementia sufferers and their families has been the first to officially receive its cash from the 2020-2021 round of the Co-op Local Community Fund. Rushcliffe’s 5k Parkrun Returns

Ruddington welcomed the return of its weekly 5k Parkrun for adults this morning (Saturday 24th July) after an unprecedented sixteen month gap. It was suspended back in March 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic so participants today were clearly keen to get their running shoes and high-vis back on! Whilst Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun had already resumed on Sunday mornings, for 4 to 10 year-olds, in April, Parkrun UK decided to wait for a further lifting of Coronavirus restrictions before restarting the timed run for the grown-ups on Saturday mornings. New Round of Co-op Community Funding

It’s been announced that the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund is opening next week – on Tuesday May 4th. This will be the seventh time local clubs, charities and organisations have been invited to apply for funding raised by Co-operative members. Excitement is mounting amongst younger children from our village (and beyond) that Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun will be back from Sunday April 11th at 9.00am! The usually weekly event in Ruddington’s Country Park has been cancelled for just over a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic – which, of course, led to Government restrictions on large gatherings. Every year shoppers at our village Co-op help to provide much needed cash for three local good causes via their ‘Local Community Fund’. During the last funding year, the Ruddington branch handed out a total of £11,458.25 to local projects in need via ‘The Big Co-op Payout’ – split between Ruddington District Girl Guiding, NG11 Foodbank and Together@Clifton.
