A community-spirited village resident says it’s “an incredible honour and privilege” to have been recognised in The Queen’s New Year Honours list for 2021. Kate Robertson, who has become very well known around Ruddington since she moved here from Newark in 1991 with her husband and three young children, will receive an MBE for ‘services to occupational therapy’. Nottinghamshire County Council has launched its biannual search for people who go the extra mile for a neighbour, an organisation or our local community. Residents and groups in Ruddington are being asked to acknowledge their unsung community, sporting, business and health heroes for this year’s Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards. Organised by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC), the annual community accolades celebrate volunteers, businesses, clubs, organisations, environmentalists, sports teams and athletes in the district and the best of its health and wellbeing and food and drink sectors. Easter With Our Framework Knitters

Easter will be a busy time at Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum with events for villagers and visitors of all ages. If you’re aged 18 or over, and can spare a few hours a week or month, Ruddington District Girlguiding needs YOU! Our relatively large village is home to two Rainbow packs, two Brownies packs, one Guide pack and one Rangers section. Recent adventures across the sections include designing a sandwich and packaging, crazy golf and Country Park games. Award for Ruddington Blood Donor

A village resident who’s been giving blood for 34 years is to be recognised for his life saving donations with a special award. Dr Mike Robinson (pictured above with wife Charlene) has now given blood more than 250 times! Bearing in mind that only one donor in a hundred ever reaches 100 donations, passing the 250 mark is very special indeed.
