Government Adds to Pothole Pot

It’s hoped Ruddington’s roads might benefit from a central Government boost to local maintenance funds to speed up much needed pothole repairs. Nottinghamshire County Council has announced it has been awarded £8.28million specifically for fixing road craters in Nottinghamshire as part of the Department for Transport’s £2.5billion ‘Pothole Fund’. This is in addition to an existing allocation of £22.57million for general highway maintenance across the county. Villagers are up in arms about the large number of motorists flouting a current four-day road closure in Ruddington. Villagers have been left bemused after Severn Trent Water workmen turned up to fix a mains leak in Ruddington this afternoon, closed the road, repaired the pipe, but then left the hole and went home.
