It’s just over two months since the relative peace and quiet of a Sunday evening in Ruddington was shattered by the dramatic arrival of fire crews, cordoning off High Street and smashing through the door to tackle a blaze at our village bookmakers. Sweetie Boutique is Back!

Visitors to this year’s Summer Fayre were delighted to find that Ruddington’s very own traditional sweet shop has reopened – just a couple of doors’ down from where it was before! Sweetie Boutique is a unique, village centre business owned and run by resident Sue Kosciekowski (pictured) who began trading at the front of Julia’s Kitchen at 14, High Street last December. Our New Look Library

Ruddington Library is reopening on schedule this weekend, following its refurbishment, and villagers should notice a rather contemporary restyling – INSIDE at least! It’s taken almost two months to complete the makeover, but Inspire, which runs the library on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, hopes that users will be pleased by the upgrades. There was always going to be a limit as to what could be achieved externally, with this ageing building’s rather unattractive, flat-roofed, sixties’ design.
