The retail area of one of Ruddington’s top tourist attractions has been transformed this week thanks to a significant cash boost. We reported in October how £8,335 had been awarded towards The Framework Knitter’s Museum‘s ‘Shop Improvement Project’ through the Museum Development East Midlands (MDEM)’s Recovery and Reboot Grants. A new poppy display by the now famous ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’ is among the ways our village is paying its respects this year to those who gave their lives to defend our country. Adorning the railings in front of St Peter’s Church, near the War Memorial, the Ninjas have had a little extra help creating this one. Organisers of this month’s ‘Ruddington Open Gardens’ weekend have revealed the event was a great success – securing almost £4,500 for their two chosen charities. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the usually biennial was last held in 2018, but it returned even bigger and better on 2nd & 3rd July 2022. After all the excitement of Ruddington’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at the beginning of June, there’s another, big weekend event taking place all over our village at the start of next month. On Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July, from 2.00pm to 6.00pm on both days, ‘Ruddington Open Gardens’ is back for the first time since 2018. The impressive result of months of planning and knitting was revealed today – as Ruddington prepares to celebrate the long Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend in style.
