Platinum Jubilee Plans Progress

A provisional programme of events has been revealed for Ruddington’s celebrations of Her Majesty the Queen’s seventy years on the throne this summer. With extra UK public holidays already in place for the Platinum Jubilee, Ruddington Parish Council has organised a weekend of activities to mark our much loved Monarch’s record breaking reign. Visitors to Ruddington village centre are being treated to an array of amazing, knitted creations this Christmas after an unexpected ‘yarn bomb’ added a new dimension to our more conventional festive decorations. With the usual traders’ Christmas trees and St Peter’s Rooms light installation already in place, yesterday (December 3rd) a group calling itself ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’ swept through Church Street with hundreds of additional, seasonal creations to bring some festive colour for yuletide shoppers and sightseers. Night at the Museum

Those attending the official re-opening of Ruddington’s famous Framework Knitters’ Museum this week got to see it in a different light…. the dark! Staff and volunteers at Ruddington’s now internationally acclaimed tourist attraction welcomed invited guests to see the newly expanded site at four o’clock on Tuesday afternoon (23rd November) – and it was soon apparent why this time was chosen. Volunteers Needed for Expanded Museum

As Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum on Chapel Street moves towards re-opening in October, it’s looking for new volunteers. Framework Knitters’ Big Knitathon

One hundred and fifty years’ ago, framework knitters led incredibly hard lives. They were expected to work six days a week from 12 to 16 hours a day. The Forties with The Framework Knitters

Ruddington’s Framework Knitters Museum is hosting a FREE wartime extravaganza on Bank Holiday Monday, the 29th of  May. Called ‘Swing Back to the 1940s’, the event turns back the clock to the Second World War, with staff and volunteers decked out in best 1940s regalia.
