As the unprecedented lockdown continues across the UK, to try to halt the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus, this year’s Easter activities and celebrations in Ruddington will be mainly confined to people’s homes plus short trips out for exercise or essential shopping. Rushcliffe VIRTUAL 10K & Running Festival

A popular, Ruddington running event which attracts hundreds of participants each year is still taking place – but has gone online! So, rather than the usual crowds packed into Rushcliffe Country Park today, like many other things at the moment it will instead be a ‘remote’ experience. The 2020 Rushcliffe 10k & Running Festival had already been postponed from March 1st due to a waterlogged course. Play Area Virus Danger

With another spell of fine weather forecast, Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) is reminding parents and guardians that ALL its play areas are CLOSED until further notice due to the Coronavirus lockdown. These are at Elms Park, Sellors’ Playing Field (above), Vicarage Lane Playing Field (below) and St Mary’s Community Park. Although taking your kids out for daily exercise is encouraged, RPC says: “There have been reports that parents are allowing their children to play on the equipment and play areas. Ruddington Running Event Called Off

Promoters have announced the postponement of this weekend’s Rushcliffe 10K & Running Festival – which was due to take place in Rushcliffe Country Park on Sunday (1st March 2020). It’s been cancelled due to safely fears following severe flooding of parts of the course over the last fortnight after the almost unprecedented spell of rain. It’s the second time in three years the event – organised by Perfect Motion Sports Marketing for Rushcliffe Borough Council has had to be rescheduled. Pupils at a village school have launched their own dedicated daily exercise routine “The Daily Mile” in a bid to beat obesity and improve their health and well-being. ‘Walking Bus’ Proposed for Ruddington

A fun, healthy, safe and environmentally friendly way for children to get to our village schools is being suggested for pupils in Ruddington. A “Walking Bus” is a form of student transport for school kids who, chaperoned by adults, walk to school along a set route, in much the same way a school bus might drive them there.
