Ruddington’s historic Framework Knitters’ Museum has announced it has a new Curator. Jim Grevatte is taking over the management role during exciting times for our village heritage site – which very recently secured Heritage Lottery Funding for its future expansion plans. The latest edition of Ruddington’s must have guide – now containing 37 places to visit on a #RuddyGoodDayOut – is available now.  Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) facilitated the official launch at their High Street stall during Ruddington’s 2018 Christmas Fayre – handing out their Loyalty Cards along with the new ‘Ruddy Good Day Out’ booklets to passers-by. As Father Christmas prepares to welcome thousands of excited youngsters and their parents aboard the annual “Santa Specials” at Ruddington’s Great Central Railway (Nottingham), the newly relaunched restaurant there will also be worth a visit this year. ‘The Heritage Café’ officially opens this Saturday (1st December) under the new management team of Karen Law and her partner Jim Goodinson. Ruddington’s Great Central Railway is buzzing with excitement today (Saturday 17th November) as rail enthusiasts from around the country flock here to an event involving not just ONE but TWO unique, restored high speed train powercars. Framework Knitters’ Museum wins National Lottery Funding

Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum has received initial National Lottery support for a new project called ‘A Right Good Yarn’. Made possible by National Lottery players, the project aims to expand the museum into an adjacent property called ‘Gunn Cottage’, purchased in 2013, and redevelop the existing space. The monies will also allow vital conservation and renovation works to take place. Development funding of £114,300 has been awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to help the Framework Knitters’ Museum progress plans to apply for a full National Lottery grant at…

Heritage Railway Fundraising Milestones Reached

It’s just over a year since we reported an historic moment for The Great Central Railway – when a new bridge rejoining two sections of the line divided for almost half a century was lowered into place. An exciting new initiative to encourage more residents and visitors to use our village centre shops, pubs, cafés, restaurants, takeaways and other traders will launch at the start of next month. The Ruddington Loyalty Scheme comes as high street retailers everywhere are facing more challenging trading conditions in these increasingly internet-dominated times. Time to Celebrate 50 Years

Ruddington Village Museum is celebrating its half century this month – by putting on a very special anniversary display. ‘50 Objects from 50 Years’ is a new one-day exhibition coming to St Peter’s Rooms, showing off unusual and rarely seen artefacts from the museum’s collection. It will feature fifty items, each representing a year of the museum’s collecting history.
