Construction work is now underway on a brand new ‘plaza’ style skatepark in Ruddington – which should be ready for use by this spring. Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is building a replacement concrete facility at Rushcliffe Country Park which has been designed by Canvas (top image) in close collaboration with the young people from our village and elsewhere who will use it. It’s hoped the contemporary skatepark will meet the needs of future Olympic skateboarders and BMXers from Ruddington and the surrounding areas. Village Market Cancelled Until Easter

Organisers of our monthly Ruddington Village Market have announced that the popular event will be put on hold until April 3rd – Easter Saturday. The difficult decision by Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) has been made on COVID-19 safety grounds following the recent surge in cases of the new variant Coronavirus which has recently led to a third national ‘lockdown’. After being cancelled last November (during the previous ‘lockdown’) the market did take place again in December under Nottinghamshire’s Tier 3 restrictions. Pub Doors Stay Closed for Christmas

In another blow for Ruddington’s hospitality venues, The Government has decided the whole of Nottinghamshire will retain Tier 3 ‘very high alert’ status throughout December. Ruddington Dance Teacher Launches Racial Equality Movement

A national campaign pushing for greater racial equality in dance has been launched by a Ruddington dance teacher. Stacey Green is the Principal of Freedom Dance and Performance Arts School on Charles Street, for children aged 2 to 18, which she started in 2002, and these days boasts around 150 pupils. She also co-founded ‘The Freedom Foundation’, which delivers dance, singing and song-writing programmes across schools to improve mental health. £5K Funding Boost for Village Market

As hundreds of visitors flocked to today’s festive Ruddington Village Market, its volunteer organisers learned they’d won a grant from Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) to make it even better next year!
