With Monday 25th May being another Bank Holiday, Nottingham City Transport is reminding passengers that the continuing COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ means its Green 10 buses should still only be used by key workers to and from our village – or by people needing to use public transport to Ruddington’s shops to buy essential supplies or for medical requirements. The reduced ‘core’ timetable NCT is currently operating will also apply on this date. If you’ll be changing buses onto the Medilink service, the company confirms these buses will also still run on May 25th. However, the operator’s Call…

Ruddington’s Buses as ‘Lockdown’ is Eased

Following the Prime Minister’s latest announcement that people who cannot work from home should now try to go back to their jobs, Ruddington’s main bus provider has issued a statement to clarify the current situation on its services. Ruddington’s Spring Bank Holiday Buses

This year, due to previously planned VE Day 75th anniversary celebrations, both Friday 8th May and Monday 25th May 2020 are designated Bank Holidays. Whilst most of us should be avoiding all travel and staying at home during the COVID-19 ‘lockdown’, Nottingham City Transport is maintaining a core service on its Green 10 route for key workers from our village, for those needing to get by bus to Ruddington’s shops to buy essential supplies or for medical requirements. The reduced daily timetable the company is currently operating will also apply on both of these dates. You can…

Virtual VE Day in Ruddington!

If society was operating normally, the weekend of 8th to 10th May would have been a period of national commemoration for the 75th Anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe), which marked the end of the Second World War against Germany. In Ruddington, a community event was scheduled to take place on The Green on Saturday 9th May. Unfortunately, like numerous other events, this has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. Given our current requirement is to “Stay at Home”, an alternative way of marking this historically significant…

New Ruddington Distillery Joins Virus Battle

The fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the UK has been ongoing in earnest since the big UK lockdown began on Tuesday March 24th 2020. Even before that, panic buying of items such as toilet rolls and cleansing products had begun to clear our supermarket shelves as villagers became aware of the approaching pandemic. All this happened just as Ruddington couple Cheryl Stretton and Rory Thorpe were preparing to launch their brand new gin distillery – an idea they’d been experimenting with at home since last year. “We both like Gin and…

‘Lockdown’ Bus Travel – May Update

Ruddington’s main bus operator is reminding passengers that we must travel only for essential journeys until there is a sufficient relaxation of the current government restrictions due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Until then, Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is running a ‘core network’ of services, including the Green 10 from our village to the City via Loughborough Road and the Wolds Estate. The revised timetable can be found >>HERE<<. This slimmed down service is to ensure key workers can still travel, along with those needing to use the bus for essential shopping or medical needs. You can find information…
