This weekend will see a once-in-a-decade event which gives a snapshot of life right now in Ruddington and beyond. ‘Census 2021’, run by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), takes place on Sunday 21st Match. By now, every village household should have received the documents above – each with a unique web access code – to enable residents to complete it. The Census, responses to which are required by law, is sent to every residential property across England and Wales. The information people give will decide how services are planned and funded.…

Ruddington’s Extra Support for 2021 Census

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has appointed a dedicated manager to support village residents and help make ‘Census 2021’ a success. Ruddington based Leia Morales (pictured above) is its new ‘Community Engagement Manager’ for Rushcliffe who will assist organisations, charities, faith groups and community leaders within the Borough raise awareness of the census and the value to residents in taking part. Prolific Shoplifter Jailed

A 31-year-old man, who originally received a deferred sentence for a shoplifting spree in Ruddington and Clifton last September, is now behind bars after committing further offences over Christmas. Following his original sentence, Aaron Kelly (pictured above), of no fixed address, was re-arrested on December 29th and re-sentenced the next day at Nottingham Crown Court after being found responsible for numerous, further shop thefts. Altogether he committed 41 crimes including stealing gift sets, food and makeup – as well as smashing goods inside a shop. Mr Kelly must now spend six months in jail.…

Be Considerate This Summer

For many Ruddington children, the arrival of the summer school ‘holidays’ this year has been rather less of an occasion – with the majority not having attended classes since March 20th anyway, due to the Coronavirus outbreak. ‘So Far So Good’ Say Police

Rushcliffe Police say Saturday’s easing of ‘lockdown’ restrictions – meaning Ruddington’s numerous pubs and other hospitality venues could reopen their premises – did not create any major issues for its officers. New Drone Team Launches

This week saw the first use of state-of-the-art ‘Eye in the Sky’ technology by Rushcliffe Police – leading almost immediately to two suspected criminals being caught. Concerns on Cashpoint Crime

Rushcliffe Police are asking people to be especially vigilant at the moment after recent incidents where ATMs were attacked in the early hours of the morning. Ruddington has three 24-hour cashpoints around the village, and officers say: “If you are passing any cash machines please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Police using the 999 system. The automated hoax message informs you that there has been an attempted transaction of £600 on your bank card.
