Happy Valentine’s Day!
St Valentine is the latest subject to receive the attention of talented creatives in and around our village for their current ‘Ruddington Yarn Bomb’. Whilst the pillar box topper on Church Street gets changed quite frequently, ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’ pulled out all the stops again in preparation for Valentine’s Day 2023 by knitting and crocheting romantically themed pieces to adorn other village centre locations, too. Some of these latest creations can be seen above and below, courtesy of Emma Scott, but there are even more to enjoy on their dedicated Facebook…
Read MoreNo Council Tax Rise for Most Residents
Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has announced today the majority of householders here in Ruddington and elsewhere should see no increase in its share of our Council Tax for the twelve months from this April. However, this freeze is still subject to a Full Council vote. In a move which RBC says further reflects the ongoing ‘cost-of-living crisis’, it’s proposed that properties in bands A to D would see no increase at all. On February 14th the Cabinet will also discuss proposals to discount Council Tax bills for those in bands A…

If you’ve ideas about how we can best celebrate King Charles III’s Coronation in our village, then the Events Committee at Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) would love to hear from you. The meeting will be a good opportunity for anyone to discuss the sort of Ruddington events they have in mind to commemorate the Coronation (taking place on Saturday 6 May 2023) and help the Parish Council Events Committee in its planning – both for this historic occasion, and also to showcase usual events that make up life in our village. The Committee explains: “We’re very…

If you’ve asked Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) to collect and recycle your real Christmas tree after Twelfth Night, you’re reminded to leave them out on the relevant day. RPC reminds us: “On Monday 9th January, we’ll collect trees from houses on the Clifton Road side of Wilford Road, High Street, The Green and Asher Lane (i.e. to the left of the black line shown on the map). On Tuesday 10th January, we’ll collect from houses on the Loughborough Road side of these streets (to the right of the black line).” Please remember…

A new poppy display by the now famous ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’ is among the ways our village is paying its respects this year to those who gave their lives to defend our country. Adorning the railings in front of St Peter’s Church, near the War Memorial, the Ninjas have had a little extra help creating this one. Ninjas’ spokesperson Emma Scott {who provided the photos top and below left} explains: “We have over 100 poppies on the giant poppy all made by the yarn ninjas and members of the WI.”…
Read MoreRuddington’s Seaside Yarn Bomb!
This latest burst of creative, knitted activity has just hit our village centre for the summer – courtesy of the now infamous ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’. Following a similar ‘Yarn Bomb’ at Christmas, one or two changing pillar box toppers outside the Co-op before and after that (marking topical events such as Remembrance Day) and then a very impressive ‘Platinum Jubilee Yarn Bomb’ – where the knitters really pulled out all the stops – this new one’s called ‘Ruddington on Sea’. A ‘Ninjas’ spokesperson tells us: “This is to bring some summer fun for…
