Village motorists are being warned to expect further hold-ups and disruption in the coming weeks; both as contractors carry out various highway works and festive events begin in Ruddington. As the darker nights return, drivers and pedestrians in Ruddington may be pleased to hear that long-awaited work to replace a missing lighting column in our village centre is scheduled for this weekend. It’s around a year since an electrical fault in the base of the street light at the corner of High Street and Charles Street caused it to rather dramatically burst into flames and then slowly ‘wilt’ to the floor. Thankfully it’s due to take place only from Monday 27th to Wednesday 29th September – substantially less than a previous three week closure sought last month by Linden Homes in connection with its ‘Blacksmith’s Green’ development.
