After the success of the inaugural competition last year, Ruddington’s representative in Parliament has launched her “Best Local Shop Awards 2021”. The initiative, from Rushcliffe MP Ruth Edwards, aims to highlights small, independent and local shops in her constituency, and what makes them special – whether it be their entrepreneurial spirit, their innovation, or their impact on the local community. Village restaurant owner Mahbu Noor and his staff say they’re delighted at picking up a special national award for their work at The Three Spices on Easthorpe Street – after being nominated for it by their customers. Rushcliffe Country Park has just received its 15th consecutive Green Flag Award – an acknowledgment that Ruddington’s much loved green space remains one of the very best parks in the UK. New Year Honour for Ruddington Occupational Therapist

A community-spirited village resident says it’s “an incredible honour and privilege” to have been recognised in The Queen’s New Year Honours list for 2021. Kate Robertson, who has become very well known around Ruddington since she moved here from Newark in 1991 with her husband and three young children, will receive an MBE for ‘services to occupational therapy’.
