Ruddington’s Green Belt Hearing Dates Announced

The Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to examine the “soundness” of the Rushcliffe Local Plan Part 2 – Land and Planning Policies (published by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) in May this year) – has announced the dates of the Public Hearing Sessions. Philip Lewis BA (Hons) MA MRTPI of the Planning Inspectorate has revealed these will be held over three weeks, commencing on Tuesday 27th November 2018 at 9.30am – primarily at Rushcliffe Arena. They will discuss the main issues and questions for the…

Revised Access Plans for Asher Lane Rejected

In May we reported how Space Foods Ltd had successfully appealed to the Planning Inspectorate to allow it outline planning permission for 175 new homes on Green Belt land it owns south of Musters Road. This shock decision was despite massive opposition to the development from residents, Ruddington Parish Council – and Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal of the plans. Although originally considered as part of its Local Plan Part 2 (RUD07) three other village Green Belt sites were chosen in preference. The outline plans that were given the green light on appeal show access to the new housing development…

Ruddington’s Green Belt Hangs in the Balance

The fate of dozens of acres of green fields surrounding our village now lies in the hands of the Government following last month’s submission by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) of its draft Local Plan Part 2 to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government. The Ruddington Green Belt sites earmarked by RBC for housing development were decided upon after years of consultations with residents, businesses and other organisations involving both the Borough Council and Ruddington Parish Council. The end result was a proposed allocation of 350 new homes over…

What Next for Ruddington’s Green Belt?

Ruddingtonians have now had a little time to digest the shock news that around 175 new houses are to be built off Asher Lane – a Green Belt area formerly known as RUD07 (in red on the map) – after Rushcliffe Borough Council’s original planning refusal for the site was overturned by the Government’s Planning Inspectorate. The appeal ruling was all the more surprising given the long standing opposition by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC), the many hundreds of objections from local residents, and the fact that it was no longer…

Asher Lane Housing Approved!

Ruddington has LOST its long running battle with housing developers who’ve applied to build a major new housing estate on Green Belt land off Asher Lane. Following an appeal hearing last month granted to Space Foods Limited by The Planning Inspectorate, Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s decision to refuse them outline permission for the site has been overturned. This means around 175 new homes can now be built on this land – bordered by Asher Lane, Musters Road, Western Fields and the footpath alongside the Great Central Railway line (see top photo). Hundreds…

Residents’ Group Seeks Housing Objections

A few weeks’ ago we reported how Space Foods Ltd has submitted revised plans to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) for outline planning permission to build 175 new homes on Green Belt land it owns south of Musters Road – with access off Musters Road. This is even before this April’s Public Inquiry triggered by Space Foods’ appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against RBC refusing the previous version of these plans – with the access originally proposed off Asher Lane. The planned new access off Musters Road would require the demolition of an existing dwelling which is now owned by the…

Update on our Village Plan

You may remember that something of a milestone was reached last summer with the publication of the definitive Ruddington Village Plan –  your vision for how our village should develop over the next 5 to 10 years. This final version of the Plan was launched in August at the 2017 Ruddington “Summer Fayre” by RVP steering group volunteers (top photo) when villagers could pick up a printed copy of the completed document, ask questions and volunteer themselves for projects flagged up by four years of research. (You can read more about the background >>HERE<<.) The final plan itself contained…

Revised Asher Lane Housing Plans

Last December we reported how Space Foods Ltd had decided to appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal to allow it outline planning permission for 175 new homes on Green Belt land it owns south of Musters Road – with access off Asher Lane. Those proposals were lodged in January 2017 – after a previous application for 250 houses on the same site was withdrawn two years earlier. The Borough Council refused this second application on THREE main grounds: 1) Noise. The developers didn’t indicate how they would deal with the noise…

“Save Sellors’ Playing Field”

A group of Ruddington residents is calling on Rushcliffe Borough Councillors to reject plans to build 180 houses on an area of our village Green Belt (RUD1) because it includes a covenanted recreation ground which is also registered as an Asset of Community Value. RUD1 to the west of Wilford Road, which contains the community space, is one of the sites being recommended in RBC’s latest “Local Plan Part 2: Preferred Housing Sites” document. (Please click >>HERE<< for the background). As reported on RUDDINGTON.info last week, a cabinet meeting at Rushcliffe Arena TONIGHT will provisionally decide which…

Digging Begins for “Lace Gardens”

Ten months after being granted planning permission by Rushcliffe Borough Council preparations have begun for the construction of another Ruddington housing development. “Lace Gardens” will see another 28 new homes built in Ruddington at the corner of Brookside Road and Woodhouse Gardens – with the demolition of the current Malmic Lace factory building and two existing houses on the site.  All but four of the new homes to be built there will be accessed via a single route off Brookside Road. During the consultation process some local residents had objected to the plans – mainly on the basis of increased traffic and parking…
