Pub Planning Application Pulled

Plans submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to substantially enlarge an historic Ruddington public house have been withdrawn. As reported last month, the owners of The Frame Breakers at the corner of High Street and Kirk Lane had applied for planning permission to build a three storey side extension, with two storey side and rear extension, to the existing building, as shown above. Cash Boost for Ruddington’s Railway

Volunteers at Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre on Mere Way have revealed one of their projects has been awarded significant grant funding by Rushcliffe Borough Council to help them complete it. The £40,000 being given to the Great Central Railway (Nottingham) Ltd (GCRN) ‘Carriage Shed Project’ comes from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) – part of the UK Government’s ‘Levelling Up’ agenda providing funding for local investment. Framework Knitters Ready for the Summer!

Volunteers and staff at Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum are once again showing visitors the delights of their unique heritage site, following the completion of refurbishment work there costing £62,295. The funds for the work were awarded through the Arts Council of England’s Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND). An imaginative volunteering idea has been unveiled by a Ruddington tourist attraction aiming to get all generations involved at its village centre heritage site. The Framework Knitters’ Museum on Chapel Street has launched a campaign to find two ‘green fingered’ families over the summer holidays. Those chosen will adopt a flower bed, in the museum’s gardens, and be given British cottage flowers to tend to once a week throughout June, July and August. To mark sixty years since the loss of a full passenger service on the Great Central Railway Main Line, the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre on Mere Way is hosting an exhibition of the railway’s history. They’re combining this with a chance to explore Rushcliffe Halt and Hotchley Hill signalbox.
