Ruddington’s Tour of Britain Buses

Our main public transport provider has revealed how its services will run before, during and after The Tour of Britain cycle race passes through Ruddington this Saturday, September 8th. If you’re a spectator from outside the village – coming here to watch the 120 top riders speed through – you’re being advised that parking will be at a premium and prohibited along the route itself. Nottingham City Transport is providing a frequent and hassle-free alternative into our village aboard its Navy 3 and Green 10 buses. You can view the…

Ruddington Bus Service Changes

Nottingham City Transport is reminding passengers there’ll be changes to some of its services from this weekend. However, in terms of our Ruddington buses, only the Green 10 will see slight adjustments to its timetable. Due to increased traffic on the route, from Tuesday 29th May there’s a revised weekday peak schedule being introduced “to improve reliability”. If you usually catch the Green 10/10C/10X between Rushcliffe Business Park and the City, or vice versa, on Mondays to Fridays between 6.00am and 8.00am it’d be wise to check for new departure and arrival times before…

The Beast is Back!

Ruddingtonians awoke to another blanket of snow this morning – as the effects of the so-called “Beast from the East #2” were felt across the area. Early casualties were yesterday’s Ruddington Village FC fixture against Awsworth Villa FC at Elms Park and today’s Stroke Association ‘Resolution Run’ at Rushcliffe Country Park – both of which were postponed yesterday, anticipating the icy conditions. Then this morning’s Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun was cancelled due to the snow and ice. Despite this, roads around our village have remained largely open and passable with care…

Ruddington Bus Fares to Rise

Our main village bus operator has announced that it is revising prices from Sunday March 25th. However, it points out that many fares have been frozen for the past four years. Nottingham City Transport says: “We appreciate nobody likes to pay more, but we are no longer able to absorb above inflationary increases in our operating costs and have to pass some of these costs on to our customers.” The new fares will affect passengers using NCT’s Navy 3 and Green 10 Ruddington services. An Adult “Standard City Single” will soon cost £2.20…

“The Beast” Hits Ruddington!

After having escaped the worst impacts of the bad weather sweeping the UK earlier this week, Ruddington has seen the heaviest snowfall of the winter during the past 24 hours – thanks to the effects of the so-called “Beast From The East”. Villagers awoke to a blanket of around three inches of drifting snow this morning – accompanied by icy north-easterly winds. Driving conditions were treacherous for a while, however Nottingham City Transport has so far managed to maintain a near-normal service on our Navy 3 and Green 10 buses…

Another Ruddington Bus Driver Receives Recognition

Ian Neal, a regular friendly face behind the wheel of Ruddington’s Navy 3 bus, has just won Nottingham City Transport‘s final “seasonal driver award” of 2017. It’s certainly a great way for our village to round off the year since Green 10 driver Badar Sheikh achieved the same accolade right at the start of 2017 following HIS “mystery traveller” assessment. Mr Neal, who drives the Pink 30 route, too, will now be entered into the 2017 NCT Driver of the Year Competition next month. Good luck to Badar and Ian!

Ruddington Traffic Chaos to Continue?

There’s frustration among Ruddington’s road users after 4-way temporary traffic lights suddenly sprang up in our village centre at the weekend. Although it was known the exterior of the Red Lion was due to be repainted there was little advance warning that the impact for motorists would be so severe. New scaffolding erected around the pub is taking a short section of both High Street and Easthorpe Street down to a single lane – meaning that 24-hour signals are needed. Since Sunday there have been severe peak time delays for drivers. Nottingham City Transport‘s Navy 3 and Green 10…

Eco Buses For Green 10 Service

Nottingham City Transport has confirmed that Ruddington will be one of the first places to benefit from its brand new eco-friendly buses. Several will be introduced on our Green 10 route early next month. They’re among 53 low emission, bio-gas powered, double deckers being added to the operator’s fleet following the award of a £4.4m grant from the Government’s OLEV Low Emission Bus Scheme last year – which was added to an investment of £12.4m from NCT itself. “We’ve always taken our environmental impact responsibilities very seriously and have long had one of the youngest and…
