Third Olympics for Village Skater!

An ice dancer from Ruddington has secured her place on Team GB at the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang after winning an Olympic qualifying competition this weekend! Penny Coomes and figure skating partner Nick Buckland, who hails from Wilford, built on their initial lead in the “Short Dance” section with victory in yesterday’s “Free Dance” at Oberstdorf in Germany – so lifting the Nebelhorn Trophy. Robin Hood Marathon Bus Changes

Ruddington’s bus passengers are being warned of changes to their services during this weekend’s Robin Hood Marathon. Sunday’s Full and Half Marathons (24th September) will affect numerous routes including Nottingham City Transport’s (NCT’s) Navy 3 and Green 10/10C on their way to and from the city. This year, London Road will be closed in both directions at the start of the marathon and buses will not be able to serve Trent Bridge between 09:20 and 10:20 and are diverting via Lady Bay Bridge. This Saturday in Nottingham an interesting tercentenary is being celebrated – and Ruddington is playing a pivotal role. It was back on the 24th of June 1717 that four Freemasons’ lodges in London got together to create the original Grand Lodge. Now, three hundred years on, Nottinghamshire Masons are putting on a ‘Community Fun Day’ in the Old Market Square to mark the milestone. It’s taking place on Saturday the 17th June, between 10am and 5pm and it’s a celebration partly aimed at “demystifying” Freemasonry by letting the public in general know of the many local causes and charities which benefit from their continuous…

Village Plan Out Soon

It’s been announced that another milestone will be reached this summer with the publication of the final Ruddington Village Plan – your vision for how our village should develop over the next 5 to 10 years. Originally begun in 2013, the Village Plan has been painstakingly formulated by an independent steering group made up of around twenty volunteers who live and/or work in Ruddington alongside up to three Ruddington Parish Council representatives. Supported throughout the process by staff from Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire, it’s been created based on the issues and concerns that were raised by a detailed questionnaire delivered to all village households…

A member of a Leicestershire running group – who will be back in Ruddington this Sunday (23rd April) – has taken to social media to warn residents of their next visit! This follows the alarm that was caused back in January when piles of mysterious white powder appeared around our village centre.
