The name of a contractor building new homes in our village has recently become “mud” for some residents and traders on a Ruddington estate! HTC Construction is currently erecting the first half-dozen houses of its “Lace Gardens” development – which will eventually see 28 new homes put up at the corner of Brookside Road and Woodhouse Gardens. It’s been revealed that one our key village access routes will need to be closed for MORE roadworks – despite already having been shut to traffic for over THREE MONTHS at the end of last summer! After it was first postponed on FOUR occasions the Nottinghamshire County Council Highways work on Flawforth Lane finally began on September the 18th 2017 but then over-ran by FIVE weeks until the 30th November 2017. If you’re catching Nottingham City Transport‘s Navy 3 or Green 10 into or out of the City Centre early or late this weekend beware that overnight diversions are taking place. These will also effect NightBus N48. It’s because the old pedestrian bridges across Collin Street between the old Broadmarsh Bus Station and the Shopping Centre are due to be removed between tonight (Friday 5th January) and Monday 8th January. Mobile Mast Causes Further Disruption

Ruddington’s drivers and bus users are being warned to brace themselves for more delays on Wilford Road as new roadworks requiring temporary traffic lights begin there TODAY (Thursday 23rd November). The new mobile telecommunications pole on Wilford Road has been running on electricity from a large roadside generator since it was erected last month after connecting it to an existing mains power source was deemed to be unsafe. Parish Council Responds to Green Belt Plans

Following last week’s important public meeting on the future of Ruddington’s Green Belt in St Peter’s Rooms, Ruddington Parish Council has just published its own views – objecting to TWO of the proposed housing sites and also to the increased allocation of homes for our village. This is in response to Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s Local Plan Part 2 consultation which now earmarks Ruddington for 410 new houses – 64% more properties than the 250 first mooted. Flawforth Lane Closure Extended Again!

The closure of one our key village access routes will now continue for almost FIVE WEEKS longer than originally scheduled! After having been postponed on FOUR previous occasions the Nottinghamshire County Council Highways work on Flawforth Lane finally began on September the 18th and was planned to go on for 6 weeks. It was then extended until this Friday November 17th. NOW another NEW notice (below) and updated information on roadworks.org states that it won’t be completed until Wednesday 29th November. An important meeting on the future of Ruddington’s Green Belt is being held in St Peter’s Rooms from 7.30pm tonight (Tuesday 14th November). Villagers are strongly encouraged to go along to give their views to Ruddington Parish Council on what its response should be to Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s Local Plan Part 2 consultation. “Eyesore” Mast Causes Complaints

Ruddingtonians have taken to social media to express their concerns about a new fifty foot tall mobile telecommunications pole which was erected in our village last weekend. Rushcliffe Borough Council planners approved the new mast on Wilford Road in July after no objections to the proposals were received – despite the fact that it is on Green Belt land at one of our rural village gateways. Along with the closure of Flawforth Lane getting extended for three weeks, there are also more roadworks through this weekend at the other end of Ruddington! Two-way traffic control returns to Wilford Road, just north of Sellors’ Playing Field, to allow the safe erection by Clarke Telecom of a fifty foot tall mobile telecommunications mast on behalf of O2. Easthorpe Street Housing Approved

A Ruddington hairdressing salon, chiropodist, photography studio, joinery firm and electrician will now need to find new premises – after an application for a housing development off Easthorpe Street was given the go ahead by Rushcliffe planners. Seven new homes proposed by landowner Jeff Hind have been approved there under plans drawn up by Carlton Design Architecture Limited (application reference 17/01690/FUL).
