Cumberland Close Car Criminal Evades Capture

It comes as Rushcliffe officers release the August crime statistics for Ruddington {published in full below} which reveal two further incidents of criminal damage to the tyres of other cars parked on Cumberland Close during the same period. The perpetrator’s motive for doing this is unclear, but it’s been…

Vandals Strike at Ruddington Farm

A clear-up operation is underway following more mindless vandalism in our village – this time causing serious environmental pollution at a farm south of Rushcliffe Country Park. The incident was discovered on Monday morning when a partner in the Ruddington arable farming business found its large irrigation pond had been illegally accessed and pumping equipment there damaged. “Over the weekend, Sunday evening at a guess, a group of people must’ve been partying at the pond” the partner told RUDDINGTON.info. “As I was walking towards the pond, at about 6am, I suddenly became aware…

More Vandalism at GCRN

It seems vandals have struck again at our heritage railway centre. Nottinghamshire Police are reporting that, over the past few nights, a total of six windows over a number of carriages have been broken at Ruddington’s Great Central Railway – Nottingham. The latest, mindless attack comes as railway volunteers are still trying to raise funds to fix the estimated £80,000 of damage caused there by vandalism just over three months ago. On that occasion two boys were arrested in connection with the incident. It also resulted in the setting up of a dedicated fundraising…

Arrests Made After Railway Vandalism

Nottinghamshire Police say they have arrested two boys in connection with the criminal damage at Ruddington’s Great Central Railway site on Monday (29th April). New Community Facility to Replace our Village Hall?

A meeting of Ruddington Parish Council has agreed a plan which could involve closing and selling off our Village Hall to help fund the purchase of the former Young People’s Centre on The Green. In April, we reported that continuing vandalism to the disused Youth & Community building had prompted owners Nottinghamshire County Council to take some decisive action over the empty premises. It released a statement which read: “After the recent damage to the centre the building has been secured and boarded up. Some further inspections are taking place following the vandalism, but if…

Councils To Negotiate on Former Youth Centre

The latest vandalism to Ruddington’s former Young People’s Centre on The Green seems to have finally prompted some action from Nottinghamshire County Council – which owns the disused premises. The building has been empty since December 2016 when “The Body Centre” ran into financial difficulties and was forced to close. Previously it had been Ruddington’s dedicated Youth and Community Centre but was leased out by the County Council to fitness firm Project Body UK in 2014 (for a planned ten year period) due to government spending cuts. In summer 2016 the conditional youth provision was reintroduced there…

Youth Centre Trashed

Police are appealing for information after Ruddington’s former “Body Centre” was broken in to and vandalised over the weekend. The damage was reported by Ryan Charlesworth who ran the building with his wife Rachel as a fitness club and community centre for over two years until they ran into financial difficulties last December. Ryan says: “Heart breaking enough to put so much effort into the place to then lose it. To see what some vandals had done inside was disgusting. They have pulled down half the ceiling, thrown paint everywhere, stolen youth club equipment and…
