Christmas Market Cancelled

It’s been announced that Ruddington’s 2020 Christmas Market and Fayre has had to be called off due to continuing concerns about COVID-19. Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) took over the responsibility of organising our village’s biggest, annual, festive event from Ruddington Parish Council earlier this year – and had ambitious new plans to host gazebo stalls and street foods all along Church Street and High Street, along with further food, drink and makers stalls at multiple indoor venues around the village centre. However, despite an easing of government restrictions, it…

Have a Ruddy Good Day Out!

Following months of closure for much of Ruddington’s usually bustling village centre, due to the unprecedented COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ in March, it’s now ‘back to business’ for most traders! With face coverings required in shops from today, coupled with ‘social distancing’ measures already in place to keep us safe, visitors are now returning in force. Ruddington has always been a popular destination for shoppers wishing to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city and seek out our wide variety of independent retailers – most of them unique to the village – at a…

Village Market on The Green Hailed a Huge Success

This weekend Ruddington Village Market returned after a four month physical absence, and it was a huge success – with organisers, traders and visitors doing an outstanding job of relaunching as a ‘socially distanced’ market in its new location on the village green. At 9am everyone was ready to go, and queues started forming at some of the most missed and hotly anticipated stands. Market regulars Split Screen Coffee, Beeston Brownies and Duke & Grey had orderly queues forming from early on, with small orange cones marking the 2 metre queuing…

Ruddington Flood Clear-up Continues

Traders on Ruddington’s High Street have continued to mop up and assess the damage today after yesterday’s torrential rain which flooded many of their premises. The late afternoon downpour occurred as freak summer weather hit our village just after 5pm, turning roads into rivers in just minutes. Residents and business people captured the images below just after the deluge – which caused scenes the like of which most villagers had never witnessed before. You can read more >>HERE<<. This morning, members of Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s ‘Streetwise’ team were onsite (photos…

The Village Market Returns!

Ruddington’s popular, monthly market will be back this July – after being suspended for the past three months due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. Now that Government ‘lockdown’ restrictions are being eased, its organisers Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) have decided it will be safe and practical to restart Ruddington Village Market on Saturday July 4th – albeit initially with fewer stalls and a new location to enable ‘social distancing’ at the event. Mark Pinks of RVCP’s Market Team admits: “It’s going to be different for a while. One of the best…

Visit Our ‘Virtual’ Village Market!

After celebrating its first anniversary in February 2020, and continuing as scheduled in March, Ruddington’s popular Village Market was then cancelled for April – until further notice – as the threat of COVID-19 Coronavirus loomed large in the UK. Organisers Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) decided to suspend the monthly event in the interests of public health and safety – even before the approaching pandemic prompted the Government’s closure of restaurants and pubs, such as market venue The White Horse – which would have made holding it impossible anyway. However, for those…

The Changing Face of Our High Street

Ruddington’s historic village centre is currently undergoing some of the biggest remodelling in decades – with two major demolition and reconstruction projects now underway at either side of High Street. It’s hoped short term pain will lead to long term gain by enabling new businesses to trade from brand new purpose-built premises on the sites of both the former Thomas’s Greengrocers storage building and the old Barclay & Cook Convenience Store. Meantime there are changes underway at some of our existing High Street shops, too. Sadly one of these is the…
