More Village Centre Road Closures

Further complete closures of Ruddington’s main shopping street and Dutton’s Hill are among the roadworks liable to cause disruption over the next few months in and around our village. Firstly, there’s Easter Day work (Sunday 17th April) by Severn Trent for repair and maintenance on High Street, meaning the road will be closed throughout the day with diversions in operation. Nottingham City Transport says between 08:00-17:00 its Green 10/C service will divert: turning left onto Easthorpe St, right on the A60 and right onto Kirk Lane (10) or straight on…

New Emergency Works Cause Delays

Drivers accessing Ruddington along Clifton Road are facing unexpected hold-ups after temporary traffic lights appeared there this morning (Thursday 24th March). A gas leak was detected between the Old Station Drive turn and the Pasture Lane roundabout – resulting in Cadent Gas installing 24 hour two-way signals and digging up the westbound carriageway over the former railway bridge. As this is one of Ruddington’s busiest routes, motorists are being warned to expect delays – especially at peak times – while the escape is traced, excavated and repaired.  We’re being warned…

Further work by Severn…

Ruddington Roadworks Return

After a ‘lull’ over the Christmas and New Year period, the road diggers will be out and about again in Ruddington over the coming weeks. Work by Severn Trent originally scheduled to take place at one of our busiest junctions last Sunday only (9th January) will now be taking place over two weekends this month. Thankfully this water connection work – at the crossroads of Loughborough, Kirk Lane and Flawforth Avenue – is still scheduled just on Sundays: the 16th and 23rd January. This means the disruption for motorists should be kept…

New Year Roadworks at Manor Park

During 2021 villagers and visitors suffered unprecedented and disruptive roadworks in Ruddington – many of them to facilitate the construction of four major new housing developments on our former Green Belt. Thankfully, so far, things are looking rather quieter to start 2022. The first major highway work this month is for Severn Trent to dig up Loughborough Road in two places – firstly on a Sunday* and then on a Thursday** – with potentially disruptive temporary traffic lights in use during both. More significant for those who live on Manor Park, or…

Ruddington’s Festive Roadworks

This year villagers and visitors have suffered unprecedented and disruptive roadworks in Ruddington – many of them to facilitate the construction of four major new housing developments on our former village Green Belt. Thankfully things are looking much quieter into the new year. Whilst, of course, Santa and his reindeer can fly over any traffic queues or road closures, no significant Christmas disruption is planned for we terrestrial drivers, either! The current Wilford Road work by BT is off-peak only. The three-way traffic lights originally planned by Severn Trent for…

Village Centre Roadworks Postponed

In another strange but welcome turn of events, the planned work by Severn Trent Water around Kempson Street, which was due to start today (Tuesday 30th November), has been called off! Ruddington traders and motorists had been dreading more disruption and delays coming, as it was, straight after Cadent had only just completed its over-running gas main repair work. This had closed Wilford Road at Dutton’s Hill for almost two weeks, causing peak time traffic chaos. The new work by Severn Trent is required to provide a new water connection for additional homes (artist’s…

More Village Centre Roadworks

No sooner has Cadent Gas finally completed its over-running repair work – which closed Wilford Road at Dutton’s Hill for almost two weeks – village centre traders and motorists in Ruddington are immediately facing more potential disruption and delays this week. Yesterday (Monday 29th November) business owners on High Street received a letter of confirmation from Severn Trent that the planned work around Kempson Street is going ahead for three days, from today. This is to provide a new water connection for additional homes (artist’s impression below) being built along there. As…

Dutton’s Hill Closure Extended!

Motorists, bus users and business owners in Ruddington have expressed dismay on learning that the recent traffic disruption in our village centre will continue for even longer – with emergency gas main work on Wilford Road STILL unfinished. Originally it was planned that two-way traffic signals would suffice whilst Cadent carried out repairs to a fractured gas main under Dutton’s Hill. However, last Wednesday (17th Nov) the busy route was suddenly shut without notice on safety grounds when it was discovered the gas leak was worse than anticipated. That closure was finally due…

Dutton’s Hill Emergency Closure

Drivers trying to get through Ruddington village centre today faced unexpected delays and diversions – after emergency gas work shut Wilford Road at Dutton’s Hill at around 3pm*. As queues formed around the closure, Nottingham City Transport was forced to divert its Navy 3 service away from Ruddington village centre – leaving passengers stranded at bus stops. Traffic chaos has also been reported along St Mary’s Crescent – as drivers attempted to find their own diversionary route via St John’s Road and the Rufford Road estate. There’s now an important update…
