The end of the Easter holidays heralds another period of disruption for Ruddington’s long-suffering residents and motorists due to the long-term junction remodelling work at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads. From Tuesday 2nd until Friday 26th April 2024 the current one-way system between Flawforth Avenue and Loughborough Road is replaced with the complete closure of Flawforth Lane at that point for Cadent Gas to complete its mains pipe work under the road. As well as this meaning a long way around for through-traffic, residents and businesses along Flawforth Lane and Flawforth Avenue, and…

The ongoing Ruddington highways project which began in July 2023 – to improve the layout and install or reconfigure utility connections at the busy Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads – has entered its next phase earlier than expected. Following complaints from long-suffering residents and motorists, faced with frequent long queues through 4-way temporary traffic lights, early last month we reported the good news that the total closure of Flawforth Lane would only be actioned for around three weeks, from 2nd April until 26th April, rather than the three months planned originally. The not…

After another short period back on the old traffic lights, following the timely completion of cable re-routing work by Virgin Media, potentially disruptive work resumes at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads this week. Since this major highways project began in July 2023 – to improve the layout and install or reconfigure utility connections at the busy Ruddington junction – it has caused major frustration due to long, peak-time delays for drivers and bus passengers, and had a significant impact on nearby residents. The very welcome, festive respite for Ruddington’s long suffering residents and motorists – especially for those wanting to get in and out of our village at ‘rush hour’ – is now at an end. Since lengthy junction layout improvements and new utility installations at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads began in July 2023, they have caused significant frustration, with long, peak-time delays for drivers and bus passengers; most recently due to months of temporary 4-way temporary signals for pipe-laying by Severn Trent Water. Unfortunately, this major work resumes this Monday 8th January 2024,…

N.B. THERE’S NOW AN UPDATE >>HERE<< Thankfully this very disruptive ‘first phase’ – mostly requiring temporary 4-way temporary signals for pipe laying work by Severn Trent Water – finished just before the festive period, slightly ahead of schedule. This means the old junction traffic lights have been brought back into use over the Christmas and New Year holidays, allowing a welcome respite from months of…

It seems 2024 is set to be just as difficult as 2023 has been for motorists trying to get into, out of, or through our busy village in a timely fashion; with a much used access road being SHUT for almost three months. Ever since long-overdue junction layout improvements and new utility installations at Ruddington’s Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads finally began in July, their 4-way temporary signals have continued to cause frustration. Frequent peak-time hold-ups for motorists and disrupted bus services even prompted an apology from Nottinghamshire Counry Council (NCC). This ‘first’ phase…
