The Public Inquiry into the refusal by Rushcliffe Borough Council to grant planning permission for the building of 175 homes off Asher Lane in Ruddington began yesterday (Tuesday 17th April) at Rushcliffe Arena under the appointed Inspector, Nick Fagan. After opening speeches by Counsel for both sides, the first person to give evidence was Ruddington Parish Councillor Paul Reedman who made a statement against allowing the appeal, issued jointly by Ruddington Parish Council and Ruddington Action Group, before answering questions from the Inquiry. Residents on Ruddington’s Musters Road estate and along Asher Lane will find out this week whether a property developers’ appeal against the refusal of adjacent Green Belt housing will be successful. Following Rushcliffe Borough Council’s decision to refuse an outline planning application for 175 homes off Asher Lane in April 2017, the applicants Space Foods Ltd lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate – reference number APP/P3040/W/17/3185493. Last December we reported how Space Foods Ltd had decided to appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal to allow it outline planning permission for 175 new homes on Green Belt land it owns south of Musters Road – with access off Asher Lane. A row of new homes could be built at the heart of Ruddington’s conservation area if a planning application is given the green light by Rushcliffe Borough Council. Back in April we reported that Rushcliffe Borough Council had rejected plans to build 175 new homes on our Green Belt north of Asher Lane. The proposals (above) were lodged by land owners Space Foods Ltd in January after a previous application for 250 houses on the same site was withdrawn two years earlier. Easthorpe Street Housing Approved

A Ruddington hairdressing salon, chiropodist, photography studio, joinery firm and electrician will now need to find new premises – after an application for a housing development off Easthorpe Street was given the go ahead by Rushcliffe planners. Seven new homes proposed by landowner Jeff Hind have been approved there under plans drawn up by Carlton Design Architecture Limited (application reference 17/01690/FUL). It’s been revealed that key Rushcliffe Borough Councillors will decide at a meeting NEXT WEEK which sites in Ruddington will be removed from our Green Belt – in order to accommodate over FOUR HUNDRED new homes.
