‘Ruddington Walking Bus’ Trial This Week

Last summer we revealed that a ‘Walking Bus’ was being proposed for Ruddington. After a survey was carried out, and followed up with two information evenings, it was decided there was enough interest and support to test out the idea in our village. Ruddington Mums Support ‘Great British Spring Clean’

After an appeal by Rushcliffe Borough Council, a popular Ruddington Facebook group, which offers information and advice for village parents, has pledged to join in with this year’s ‘Great British Spring Clean’. The campaign, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, aims to further clean up streets, parks and beaches across our country – between now and April 23rd – and expects to see around half a million people taking action in the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign. Ruddington Tree Wardens Wanted

An appeal has been launched by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) for environmentally minded Ruddington residents to apply to become tree wardens – and ensure the trees in our village are protected and nurtured. Tree wardens are volunteers appointed by Parish Councils to champion local trees and woods, involve fellow residents in tree projects and protect local trees by reporting early signs of insect pests, disease and vandalism. Alleged Fly-Tippers Have Vehicle Seized

Individuals who allegedly fly-tipped fridges on the A52 near Wheatcroft Island have had their vehicle seized by Rushcliffe Borough Council officers and Nottinghamshire Police. It follows several incidences of the items being dumped in the area, leading to the use of CCTV capturing those in the act during December 2018. Fly-Tipping in Ruddington Continues

Frustration is growing that the illegal dumping of waste seems to be continuing unabated around our village despite Council and Police efforts to thwart the criminals who’re doing it. It was reported last month that a vehicle belonging to suspected fly-tippers had been seized but further incidents have since followed, including this most recent one. Despite the good news from Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) last Thursday that individuals who allegedly dumped fridges on an A52 lay-by close to Wheatcroft Island – and were suspected of being responsible for dozens of other fly-tips around Ruddington this year – had had their vehicle seized (pictured below), a similar incident has now happened again just a few hundred yards away! A Ruddington-based artist is aiming to raise ten thousand pounds for two charities – following a project in his home studio which saw him produce 1,000 hand-made linocut prints in just ONE day! Rushcliffe Borough Council is warning that the illegal dumping of waste on our streets or in our countryside will not be tolerated – with heavy fines and court bills for anyone identified doing it. Kids’ Clothing Library Launches

A village mum has come up with a groundbreaking initiative to help both the environment and low income families in our village – the Ruddington Children’s Clothing Library. After first doing a bit of market testing via Ruddington Mums, Sally Dyson launched her new library last month – and is now hoping to spread the word about it even further. The library loans out children’s clothes for a fixed period of time, on payment of a refundable deposit. There is no fee for borrowing clothes and the deposit is then repaid…
