Ruddington has LOST its long running battle with housing developers who’ve applied to build a major new housing estate on Green Belt land off Asher Lane. Following an appeal hearing last month granted to Space Foods Limited by The Planning Inspectorate, Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s decision to refuse them outline permission for the site has been overturned. The final consultation phase before rescinding substantial areas of Ruddington’s Green Belt for new housing development began today at 5pm with the publication of the Draft Rushcliffe Local Development Plan Part 2. This was approved at Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Full Council meeting on April 26th. Rushcliffe Borough Council’s “Local Plan” reaches a very important stage this Thursday, with a decision on whether it will move to the final “consultation” phase. The publication draft of the Local Plan Part 2 is due to be discussed at their Full Council meeting on April 26th. You may remember that something of a milestone was reached last summer with the publication of the definitive Ruddington Village Plan – your vision for how our village should develop over the next 5 to 10 years. Last December we reported how Space Foods Ltd had decided to appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal to allow it outline planning permission for 175 new homes on Green Belt land it owns south of Musters Road – with access off Asher Lane. A Ruddington hairdressing salon, chiropodist, photography studio, joinery firm and electrician will now need to find new premises – after an application for a housing development off Easthorpe Street was given the go ahead by Rushcliffe planners. Seven new homes proposed by landowner Jeff Hind have been approved there under plans drawn up by Carlton Design Architecture Limited (application reference 17/01690/FUL).
