Ruddington’s motorists are being advised to expect travel disruption this January when tree maintenance work takes place in our village. Via East Midlands is warning that it will be felling dead trees and cutting back overgrown vegetation along the A60 Loughborough Road in Ruddington every weekday from the 14th to the 25th of January 2019 on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council. Temporary two-way traffic signals will be in use to enable contractors to do this safely. The good news is that the work will be carried out off-peak, between 9.00am and 3.30pm…

Drivers Warned to Expect Delays
Ruddington’s motorists should brace themselves for more queues exiting and entering our village – as multi-way traffic signals are put into use at one of our busiest junctions tomorrow (Monday 20th August). Renewal of the road linings at the Loughborough Road/Kirk Lane/Flawforth Lane crossroads is being carried out by Nottinghamshire County Council. The good news is that the work is expected to last only for one day – so the disruption caused by the temporary traffic lights should be short lived. The fact that it’s also the summer school holidays…

Along with the closure of Flawforth Lane getting extended for three weeks, there are also more roadworks through this weekend at the other end of Ruddington! Two-way traffic control returns to Wilford Road, just north of Sellors’ Playing Field, to allow the safe erection by Clarke Telecom of a fifty foot tall mobile telecommunications mast on behalf of O2. After the ground level equipment cabinet was installed beside the cycle path last month (top photo) it’s now time for the pole itself to be put up among the line of trees. The enclosed mast…

Villagers might think there’s a conspiracy to grind Ruddington to a complete standstill? Yet again this week we have two concurrent sets of temporary traffic lights as well as the six week closure of a major access route! The latest signals are for two-way traffic control on Wilford Road, just north of Sellors’ Playing Field, to allow safe construction by Clarke Telecom of a fifty foot tall mobile telecommunications mast on behalf of O2 in the line of trees alongside the cycle path. The pole will support three antennae and a satellite dish with a cabinet at ground level…

Ruddington residents have been looking at their High Street with despair this morning after yet another set of unannounced four-way temporary traffic lights appeared! It was known that parking restrictions were to be put into place from 8am today (Sunday September the 3rd) until 5pm on Sunday the 17th of September to allow work to be carried out on the High Street side of Ruddington Fish Bar (their former pizza takeaway entrance) to re-render the walls. The scaffolding means that no parking, waiting, loading nor unloading is now being allowed from the northern boundary…

After preparatory work yesterday (Thursday 11th August) temporary traffic lights are now in use. Having been put back a day due to the bad weather, work is now underway and the latest roadworks.org update warns it is due to continue through until Thursday, the 24th of August. Meantime traffic control is in place from the junction with Old Station Drive to the Pasture Lane roundabout. It’s causing hold-ups…

Ruddington’s motorists have had to suffer perhaps more than their fair share of traffic delays this year – from the construction of Tavern Island to the repainting of The Red Lion – whilst the long anticipated Flawforth Lane closure hasn’t even happened yet! Now it seems electricity cabling by Western Power Distribution may mean more delays for drivers along Clifton Road as temporary traffic lights are put into place. Having been postponed due to bad weather, the work is now due to start this Thursday (10th August) and continue through until…

A road scheme to try to alleviate peak time traffic delays through our village has been completed today. After initially being delayed for six months due to a planning oversight, work by Nottinghamshire County Council to convert the busy Clifton Road/Wilford Road T-Junction into a mini-roundabout finally began on the 9th of January. The last cones were removed and the final road closure lifted just after lunchtime today. Normal bus services have restarted on Nottingham City Transport‘s Navy 3 service whilst the LocalLink L22 & LocalLink L23 buses run by Nottingham Community Transport will resume tomorrow…

There will be significant daytime disruption for Ruddington’s drivers and bus users this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. From Monday the 27th February until Wednesday 1st of March both Wilford Road and Clifton Road are due to be closed at the construction site of our new roundabout from 9.30am until 3.30pm each day. Between these times there will be pedestrian and cycle access only. Thankfully, through negotiation, this disruption has been minimised to three days of partial closure rather than several days of full closures. And an update from Ruddington Parish Council…
