Under amended rules which came into force today (Friday 8th July 2022) all dog owners/walkers in Rushcliffe must now carry a bag or have other means to pick up dog waste after their pet whenever out and about – otherwise face a possible £100 fine if unable to produce one on request. Big Increase in Fly-Tipping Fines

A Ruddington nature reserve is one of the recent sites blighted by fly-tippers which has led to a fine being served against the offenders. The contents of this illegal dump in the entrance to Wilwell Farm Cutting on Wilford Road (pictured above) were sufficient for investigators to trace their source and so identify the culprits. It’s now ten months since ‘Storm Ciara’ battered Ruddington from the early hours of one Sunday morning (9th February 2020) with gusts of up to 60mph during the day – accompanied by a period of torrential rain – causing structural damage to village properties and felling or breaking several of our large trees. When storm Ciara battered Ruddington in early February, for many villagers one of the most upsetting bits of damage it caused was to the large old Willow tree on The Green. Despite a lack of leaves at the time, one of its main branches was unable to withstand the gale force winds and came crashing to the ground. As the unprecedented lockdown continues across the UK, to try to halt the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus, this year’s Easter activities and celebrations in Ruddington will be mainly confined to people’s homes plus short trips out for exercise or essential shopping. Whilst we can visit Rushcliffe Country Park and other village open spaces for our permitted daily walk, run or cycle, we must observe ‘social distancing’ of at least two metres from others whilst doing so. With another spell of fine weather forecast, Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) is reminding parents and guardians that ALL its play areas are CLOSED until further notice due to the Coronavirus lockdown. These are at Elms Park, Sellors’ Playing Field (above), Vicarage Lane Playing Field (below) and St Mary’s Community Park. In an election outcome which may surprise many Ruddingtonians, Labour has stolen two out of the three available seats on Rushcliffe Borough Council from the Conservatives. The results from yesterday’s poll mean that Labour candidates Jen Walker and Mike Gaunt (pictured above left and centre) are duly elected to the Council for the first time – with third placed Gary Dickman (pictured right) securing the remaining seat for the Conservatives.
