Ruddington’s Ready for The Glorious 12th!

Okay. So we’re talking about the 12th of April rather than the 12th of August. Moreover, this month no grouse (grouses? grice? – Ed) will be put in peril. However, Monday is poised to be the glorious day which most residents have been longing for – when Ruddington’s non-essential shops, salons, outdoor hospitality, gyms and certain other establishments can finally reopen after our third ‘lockdown’! After three months of further tight controls to ‘control the Coronavirus’, now the vaccine rollout is well underway across England, the Government ‘roadmap’ has navigated us…

Ruddington’s Parkrun Returns

Excitement is mounting amongst younger children from our village (and beyond) that Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun will be back from Sunday April 11th at 9.00am! The usually weekly event in Ruddington’s Country Park has been cancelled for just over a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic – which, of course, led to Government restrictions on large gatherings. However, the green light has just been given to restart Parkrun for four to ten year-olds. With exactly one week to go, volunteer organisers have been checking the kit, putting up information posters and…

Easter in Ruddington

Whilst this week’s further easing of Coronavirus restrictions doesn’t yet allow for the reopening of Ruddington’s hospitality venues – or even non-essential retailers – it does mean the true meaning of Easter can be celebrated ‘face to face’ (albeit ‘socially distanced’) at our village churches this year. Minister of Ruddington Methodist Church, Revd Nichola Jones, tells us the traditional building of the ‘Easter Cross’ of flowers in front of their building (pictured above) will be taking place this Saturday (3rd April): “Any gifts of flowers are warmly welcomed from 10am…

Wendy’s Walkers’ Mighty Hike for Charity

Staff from a Ruddington pharmacy are prescribing themselves fresh air and exercise this summer as they fundraise for a leading cancer charity. N.B. This walk has now been postponed due to continuing Coronavirus restrictions and will be rescheduled for July 2022. Five employees from Evans Pharmacy on Charles Street are taking part in the ‘Peak District Mighty Hike 2021’ on Saturday July 24th. This is a 13 mile trek starting at Darley Moor and concluding at the Biggin Village Playing Fields. They’ll be taking in some beautiful Derbyshire scenery along the way…

Alpha Goes Online

There’ll be a brand new way of finding your faith in Ruddington next month – with another virtual initiative from St Peter’s Church. Whilst its services have already been available online for quite some time, due to the Coronavirus ‘lockdown’, this is the first time its ten week Alpha Course will be available to ‘attend’ from home via Zoom. Alpha Online Coordinator, Dorothy Houghton, explains: “Though COVID-19 restrictions are easing, people still are wary about getting together with others. Alpha Online is safe. The beauty of it is that there’s…

By now, every village household should have received the documents above – each with a unique web access code – to enable residents to complete it. The Census, responses to which are required by law, is sent to every residential property across England and Wales. The information people give will decide how services are planned and funded.…
