Asher Lane Appeal Hearing

Residents on Ruddington’s Musters Road estate and along Asher Lane will find out this week whether a property developers’ appeal against the refusal of adjacent Green Belt housing will be successful. Following Rushcliffe Borough Council’s decision to refuse an outline planning application for 175 homes off Asher Lane in April 2017, the applicants Space Foods Ltd lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate – reference number APP/P3040/W/17/3185493. Ruddington Kids’ Wildlife Group Wins National Prize

A special presentation is taking place in the Education Centre at Rushcliffe Country Park this morning after our local Wildlife Watch Group scooped a national award! Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust‘s Ruddington activities for 8 to 13 year-olds topped entries from across the country to win them the title of “Wildlife Watch Group of the Year”. As always, there’s a lot going on in Ruddington for the youngsters during the Easter Holidays! The fun starts on Good Friday (30th March) when the Framework Knitters’ Museum will be holding their annual Easter Bunny Hunt from 11 am to 4pm. Any child who can help the framework knitters find all their knitted bunnies will be rewarded with an Easter Egg. Zoe Fordham’s achievements have been marked with the award of an Irish international rugby cap as she celebrated her country’s 2018 Six Nations Grand Slam success – 25 years after she herself played in Ireland’s first ever women’s international. Ruddington should benefit from some of the thousands of trees which are set to be planted across Rushcliffe in the next three years. It’s part of a £50,000 project which Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) promises will “ensure sustainable environments in line with the Borough’s significant housing and employment growth.” These days woodland covers only 5.75sq km (1.04%) of Rushcliffe, so all the trees we have are important.
