Ear Foundation To Close

After over 30 years of helping to transform deaf people’s lives, and providing opportunities for people with hearing loss, The Ear Foundation has announced that sadly it will be closing this Friday. The charitable organisation is well known in Ruddington for running free walk-in hearing aid clinics each month at St Peter’s Rooms – where it’s long provided hearing aid maintenance, advice and support within our village to NHS hearing aid users. Promoters have announced the postponement of this weekend’s Rushcliffe 10K & Running Festival – which was due to take place in Rushcliffe Country Park on Sunday (1st March 2020). It’s been cancelled due to safely fears following severe flooding of parts of the course over the last fortnight after the almost unprecedented spell of rain. For the very first time this year Ruddington is joining in with ‘The Totally Locally Fiver Fest’. It’s a national celebration of small businesses and shops which runs for a fortnight from this Saturday, February 15th, through until the end of the month. Ruddington’s Mark is Canada Bound with Team GB!

A team of inspiring British athletes, who have overcome ill health and successful organ transplants, are heading to Canada to compete in the eleventh World Transplant Winter Games at the end of this month. An award-winning, young performer from Ruddington pays homage to one of the Hollywood greats in a new video – by literally following in his footsteps from the 1952 musical film ‘Singing in’ in the Rain’. Twenty year-old Louis Gaunt from our village is currently appearing in the musical “Gypsy” at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre. Ruddington’s Great Central Railway (Nottingham) has revealed that the latest addition to its heritage fleet should mean it will able to run trains here all year ’round. As eco-friendly initiatives in our village gather momentum into 2020, January sees “The Great Big Ruddington Clothes Swap”. It is being run by community-minded High Street business The Bottle Top in conjunction with The Co-op. It will begin with a week of donations of unwanted quality women’s clothes, shoes and accessories, for which you will receive vouchers.
