Long standing gripes such as continuing to allow parking on Dutton’s Hill were supplemented last year with outrage caused by the unexpected permission for 175 new houses off Asher Lane – possibly leading to traffic lights on High Street. Most recently we’ve seen the controversial approval of residents-only parking for most of Charles Street and Parkyns Street during village shopping hours. Plans to make most of two Ruddington village centre streets ‘Parking By Permit Holders Only’ during daytime hours have been approved by Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC). The contentious scheme for Charles Street and Parkyns Street, which RUDDINGTON.info originally reported on last October, was rubber-stamped today (7th March 2019) by NCC’s ‘Communities and Place Committee’ despite 34 objections – including from Ruddington Parish Council. New Double Yellow Lines for Business Park

Parking will be prohibited along at least one side of the road right around Ruddington’s Business Park if plans by Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) get the go-ahead. Extensive, new Double Yellow Lines for Mere Way (main photo) and The Avenue are being proposed after numerous requests to NCC to address issues with obstructive parking there. A landmark consultation on proposals to make the majority of two Ruddington village centre streets ‘Residents Only’ parking during Monday to Saturday daytimes ends this Wednesday (November 6th). The Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) plans (which we reported upon last month) have certainly caused some controversy! Multi-Storey Car Park for Ruddington?

Last August we reported how a Ruddington based software company had announced its latest expansion would lead to the creation of around 400 more jobs here – a number which was then raised to 500 posts this spring. Payroll giant MHR has its UK site at Ruddington Fields Business Park – in ‘Britannia House’ (currently being refurbished) and the newly built ‘Wellington House’. Weather permitting, the road resurfacing work which did not get completed on one of Ruddington’s estates, due to ice and snow, will finally be done TOMORROW (Thursday 12th April).
