A man from our village is running this weekend’s London Marathon in aid of a cause close to his heart – The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Ruddington resident Chris Cooke will be heading down to the capital to join thousands of other runners this Sunday (October 3rd) trying to complete the 26.2 mile course to raise money for their chosen charities. Parents of children who are starting Year Six this September are being urged to put down FOUR preferences when applying for their child’s secondary school place – to avoid losing out on their preferred school or academy for September next year. Frustration Over Rushcliffe School Appeals Failure

Angry Ruddington parents have written a joint letter to our MP and to our newly elected Nottinghamshire County Councillors after their children were declined a place at Rushcliffe School in September 2021 – despite living in the catchment area and attending a feeder school. Rushcliffe School to Get Bigger

There is some good news for Ruddington families who have children approaching secondary school age. Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) has just agreed plans to expand Rushcliffe School. Councillors approved the proposals to extend the academy in West Bridgford – managed by the Spencer Academy Trust – at a Policy Committee meeting yesterday (Wednesday 17 March). This latest photo from the Teso Region of Eastern Uganda shows how a classroom building project is moving forward nicely despite the problems of COVID-19 both in the UK and equatorial Africa. The project to provide a High School for children in Aminit is supported by St Peter’s Church and represents the second secondary school that they have been involved in building in Uganda over the last 15 years. A community spirited Ruddington computer repairer has come to the aid of cash-strapped local parents whose children need access to a laptop for their studies during ‘lockdown’.
