The August Bank Holiday weekend will see the welcome return of a Ruddington charity’s main annual fundraiser – after it had to be cancelled last year due to COVID-19. Much has happened at 4, Easthorpe Street since Bloomin’ Dementia was launched with some high profile help from Nottingham Forest footballers Chris Cohen and Danny Fox back in November 2017. Over the years, the Ruddington community have provided incredible support for the NG11 Foodbank, with gifts of food and toiletries made to donation points across the village. In the last year alone, for example, Co-op shoppers donated almost 2000kg of food; the children of James Peacock School collected nearly 200kg for their Harvest Festival; and recently, Sainsbury’s have been donating their surplus fresh and baked produce for next-day distribution. On Saturday (9th December) our local “NG11 Foodbank” foodbank held its Christmas appeal in Ruddington’s Sainsbury’s and Co-op supermarkets – and they’ve hailed it a great success. Mustard Seed Summer Fundraisers

Several ‘Mustard Seed’ supporters are busy getting physical this summer to raise money to send a shipping container full of school equipment and other items to Teso, Uganda. ‘The Mustard Seed Project’ is a Ruddington fundraising group set up by James Peacock Infants School teachers Sally Squires and Jayne Henson – inspired by a visit to Uganda in the Summer of last year. Ruddington’s support for our local “NG11 Foodbank” went one step further this month – becoming Ruddington Sainsbury’s “Local Charity of the Year”. Shoppers voted online and in store for a choice of three shortlisted local charities, to become the shop’s nominated charity partner for the next 12 months.
