New Nursery Plans Approved

Unpopular proposals to create a new children’s nursery on Brookside Road in Ruddington have been given the go-ahead by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). This is despite 17 objections (out of 18 comments) by consultees and members of the public to the original application for a ‘registered nursery’ {23/02205/FUL} followed by a further eleven objections to the application {23/02202/VAR} to allow extra onsite parking (for up to 14 cars) and longer weekday opening hours for the new business. Residents Object to New Nursery Plans

Proposals to create a new children’s nursery on Brookside Road in Ruddington have proved unpopular with householders in the area. When the site known as ‘Brookside House’ (pictured above in June 2021) was sold off for redevelopment in 2022 by former owners Brookside Autoservices, other units there which were still occupied were also vacated. However, the commercial premises have since lain empty, facing an uncertain future. The planning application to construct an archery range on agricultural land north of Ruddington has been withdrawn. After being told earlier this year they would be losing their current facilities in Wollaton Park, Wilford Bowmen were seeking a new site as a matter of urgency. Local archers may soon have a new location to practice their sport if an application to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is successful – on green fields at the edge of Ruddington. Wilford Bowmen are seeking permission to change the use of agricultural land east Of Wilwell Cottage, alongside Wilford Road, to house an outdoor archery range with a parking area for twenty vehicles, access gate, storage containers and toilet block. Crime in Ruddington is the focus of a short new survey which is dropping through residents’ letterboxes this week. It’s been produced on behalf of Rushcliffe MP Ruth Edwards following a spike of crime here over the summer months. It was particularly the increase in house burglaries which prompted a number of her constituents to write, expressing their concerns.
