Ruddington schoolgirl Lily-Jean Morales is cutting her luscious long hair for a good cause this Saturday (2nd April) whilst also raising funds to make her long brown locks into a wig for a child who has lost their hair to cancer or other medical conditions. ‘Knickers for Knowledge’ is Back!

This March marks the return of The Mustard Seeds Project‘s infamous fashion show – otherwise known as ‘Knickers for Knowledge’! ‘Ruddy Kind Acts’ Initiative Launches

For the past few Christmases, residents of Ruddington have benefitted from ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ – where a mystery benefactor and his helpers have posted hundreds of envelopes marked ‘R.A.K’, each containing £100 in cash to lucky local recipients in our village, Clifton and Silverdale. Some villagers even had a wad of money thrust at them whilst walking down the street! Boxing Day Action at Elms Park

A charity soccer match – which traditionally takes place in Ruddington every Boxing Day – returns this year. After being cancelled by COVID-19 last Christmas, spectators are warmly welcomed back to Elms Park on December 26th 2021 at 11am for what promises to be a feast of family fun and football. New Village Festival & Open Gardens Planned

If you’ve lived in Ruddington for a little while, you may remember ‘Open Gardens’ events being organised in our village? In the summers of 2016 and 2018 these were staged in aid of Save the Children and Action for Children and proved a big hit with villagers and visitors alike. A big hearted twelve year-old from Ruddington has lost her long hair for charity today – so that she can help out other children in need. Louise Roome, who attended St Peter’s Junior School before starting at Rushcliffe School, received her haircut this lunchtime (Saturday 13th November) from Danielle at ‘Hare & Rabbit’ in the village. New Footbridge Opens

Allotment holders at Hareham Gardens in Ruddington are celebrating the completion of their new footbridge. It spans a brook and provides a step-free route between the two halves of the site – which houses a total of 62 plots. It needed to be suitable for wheelchair users – whilst the adults with learning difficulties who are supported by the THERA Trust to grow crops on one of the plots needed safe access to get between the car park and their plot. Free School Holiday Meals to Continue

Ruddington’s schools are welcoming the announcement by Nottinghamshire County Council that it will continue to fund Free School Meals for the October half-term and over two weeks at Christmas. This means that village schoolchildren will be among more than 25,000 across the county who will receive 250,000 meals during the October break. Ruddington Trio’s Fundraising Fortnight

This weekend, three employees from a Ruddington firm are beginning the challenge of walking the Pennine Way in just 14 days – in aid of a local children’s hospice. Charity Shop Will Not Reopen

It’s been confirmed that Ruddington’s newest charity shop – which only opened its doors in March 2018 before being forced to cease trading due to the pandemic – will remain shut permanently. The Children’s Society Shop at the corner of High Street and Easthorpe Street had only been up-and-running for two years when the first Coronavirus ‘lockdown’ happened – shutting it “temporarily” – however it hasn’t traded again since.
