Ruddington’s April Crime Figures Revealed

Following our news of further incidents in our village earlier this week, Rushcliffe Police has now published the full list of crimes committed in Ruddington during April 2018. To bring things into perspective, these do include a few offences we’ve already reported on at the start of the month, regarding the former Youth Centre and also over…

Councils To Negotiate on Former Youth Centre

The latest vandalism to Ruddington’s former Young People’s Centre on The Green seems to have finally prompted some action from Nottinghamshire County Council – which owns the disused premises. The building has been empty since December 2016 when “The Body Centre” ran into financial difficulties and was forced to close. Previously it had been Ruddington’s dedicated Youth and Community Centre but was leased out by the County Council to fitness firm Project Body UK in 2014 (for a planned ten year period) due to government spending cuts. In summer 2016 the conditional youth provision was reintroduced there…

Village Crime Rate Drops

The number of reported crimes in Ruddington fell last month – according to figures for February just released by Rushcliffe Police. However SIX motorists sped off without paying for their fuel between the 1st and 28th February – which is a continuing problem for the Loughborough Road premises. Inspector Craig Berry told RUDDINGTON.info: “That could be solved overnight if the petrol station were to charge in advance. This is a very long…

Interview with the Inspector

During the last six months in particular, Ruddington seems to have been hit by an unprecedented crime-wave. As well as the usual vehicle and shed break-ins, we’ve reported a spate of burglaries, local traders being targeted and hanging basket thefts. We’ve even had a distraction thief being wrestled to the ground in our village centre by passers-by until police could get here to arrest him. Only yesterday we reported another break-in at Wayte Court. But is it REALLY that BAD and, if so, is a lack of local policing to…
