Just What The Doctor Ordered

It was around a month ago, before the Government lockdown began, that people in Ruddington began to realise the sort of stringent measures which would be needed to slow the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus in order to protect especially those in our village most at risk. As previously reported, Rushcliffe Borough Councillor Jen Walker took swift action after the March Councillors’ Surgery and – joined by members of Ruddington Village Centre Partnership, St Peter’s Church, Ruddington Mums and Alex Preston from The Bottle Top – within days set up a volunteer group and launched the Ruddington…

Reaching Out in Ruddington During the Pandemic

By now every household in our village should have had a leaflet like this through their letterbox. Its aim is to ensure that even our elderly and vulnerable residents, who’re not internet savvy, are aware of the help and support available in Ruddington to get them through the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. As previously reported, it follows a ‘Community Call Up’ from Laura Ratcliffe of Ruddington Mums just over a week ago, when she asked residents who knew of any people in our village who would struggle, if required to self-isolate due to…

Schools Out on Friday!

Working parents in Ruddington have now got another potential headache – as all schoolchildren will be sent home for an indefinite period on Friday (20th March) due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. Apart from a few feeding issues at the very start, baby Argyle appeared happy and healthy – however his breathing always seemed difficult. His mum and dad Charlotte and Kenny…

‘Community Hub’ for Former Youth Centre?

The former Youth and Community Centre on The Green could soon be put back into use as a ‘community hub’ for our village if a group of Ruddington residents gets its way. In 2014 the Nottinghamshire County Council owned premises were threatened with closure when government spending cuts meant the council could no longer afford to run them. Subsequently, however, they were leased out to fitness firm Project Body UK on the basis that youth provision would be reintroduced there on three days per week. This began to happen last summer and several community organisations…

“It May Not Be The End!”

That’s the title of the latest Facebook update from Ryan Charlesworth at Ruddington’s Project Body UK. This follows a previous announcement on Saturday that our local health, fitness and youth centre had closed its doors for the final time last Thursday.  <ORIGINAL STORY HERE> But a flood of suggestions and offers of support from within the village and elsewhere seem to have precipitated a rapid change of heart – with Ryan now saying The Body Centre might now reopen by next month. He writes: “Over the past 4 days we have been…
