It seems the Ruddington Walking Bus – which launched as a permanent, daily service between Ruddington’s two schools last September – is proving a big hit with parents, pupils and staff. Last summer we revealed that a ‘Walking Bus’ was being proposed for Ruddington. After a survey was carried out, and followed up with two information evenings, it was decided there was enough interest and support to test out the idea in our village. A new initiative which aims to unite our village’s elderly residents and pre-school children, so they can enjoy fun activities together, is continuing this week at Ruddington Methodist Church. It’s called ‘Building Bridges’ and was inspired by a Channel 4 TV documentary called ‘The Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds’ first screened in 2017 which showed the benefits of older people and toddlers working together. ‘Walking Bus’ Proposed for Ruddington

A fun, healthy, safe and environmentally friendly way for children to get to our village schools is being suggested for pupils in Ruddington. A “Walking Bus” is a form of student transport for school kids who, chaperoned by adults, walk to school along a set route, in much the same way a school bus might drive them there.
