A Ruddington based business development representative is now sporting this smooth new look – after he ‘braved-the-shave’ this week to raise funds for a national mental health charity. 20-year-old Martin Bassey {pictured ‘before’ and ‘after’ his sponsored head-shave above} works in the marketing department at HR, payroll, and finance specialists MHR, in ‘Britannia House’ on Mere Way. He raised over £1,200 for Mind in the process – more than four times his fundraising target of £300. Contributions have come from friends, family and colleagues plus a £500 donation from MHR itself. It’s been revealed that a Christian bank, which changed hands in 2020 for a reported £7 million, is moving out of Ruddington Fields Business Park. The institution uses financial services to support Christian churches and charities – with its profits utilised to support Christian causes. Bizarrely – other than our Post Office – Kingdom Bank on Mere Way was Ruddington’s only remaining banking facility, albeit telephone and mail based, after the closure of our village centre branches of HSBC, Barclays, Santander and The Nottingham. New Double Yellow Lines for Business Park

Parking will be prohibited along at least one side of the road right around Ruddington’s Business Park if plans by Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) get the go-ahead. Extensive, new Double Yellow Lines for Mere Way (main photo) and The Avenue are being proposed after numerous requests to NCC to address issues with obstructive parking there. The Council says ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restrictions should improve access along the route – especially for larger vehicles including NCT’s Green 10C/10X buses.
