Thy Kingdom Gone

It’s been revealed that a Christian bank, which changed hands in 2020 for a reported £7 million, is moving out of Ruddington Fields Business Park.

The institution uses financial services to support Christian churches and charities – with its profits utilised to support Christian causes. Bizarrely – other than our Post Office – Kingdom Bank on Mere Way was Ruddington’s only remaining banking facility, albeit telephone and mail based, after the closure of our village centre branches of HSBC, Barclays, Santander and The Nottingham.

Kingdom’s mission statement is: “To glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by providing distinctive Savings, Loans, Insurance and Investment products which advance his Kingdom, changing lives.”

Now Insider Media is reporting that Kingdom Bank has relocated its headquarters to larger premises over in Beeston due to “…a requirement for more space as its work expands”. After its acquisition last year by a group of independent Christian investors – alongside Christian charity Stewardship – the new owners said they were “…seeking to spark a significant expansion of the Bank’s activities.”  Its growing workforce already comprises around 30 employees in Ruddington – who it seems will now have to travel to Beeston instead.

Commenting on the move to ‘Media House’ on the Boulevard Estate in Padge Road, Kingdom Bank’s chief executive Paul Houghton said: “We are confident that these new premises will provide us with the environment we need for the exciting ongoing developments in the bank’s support of Christian work across the UK.”

Which company will move into the soon-to-be-vacant office premises along Mere Way next, only time will tell.
