Ruddington representatives and residents have been paying tribute to HRH Prince Philip, whose passing at the age of 99 was announced today by Buckingham Palace. The husband of Queen Elizabeth II since 1947, the Duke of Edinburgh died at Windsor Castle this morning (9th April 2021) just two months before his 100th birthday. He was the longest-serving consort in British history and had only returned to Windsor on March 16th after a month in hospital. Rushcliffe School to Get Bigger

There is some good news for Ruddington families who have children approaching secondary school age. Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) has just agreed plans to expand Rushcliffe School. Councillors approved the proposals to extend the academy in West Bridgford – managed by the Spencer Academy Trust – at a Policy Committee meeting yesterday (Wednesday 17 March). Where’s Ma’s Mah Jong Gone?

An appeal has been launched by a member of a famous Ruddington family for an item of great sentimental value which was accidentally given to a village charity shop. Musician Guy Phethean is on the hunt for a ‘Mah Jong’ set, belonging to his mother Kathy, donated to the Nottinghamshire Hospice Shop in Ruddington in the autumn of 2018. In another blow for Ruddington’s hospitality venues, The Government has decided the whole of Nottinghamshire will retain Tier 3 ‘very high alert’ status throughout December.
