An appeal has been launched by a member of a famous Ruddington family for an item of great sentimental value which was accidentally given to a village charity shop. Musician Guy Phethean is on the hunt for a ‘Mah Jong’ set, belonging to his mother Kathy, donated to the Nottinghamshire Hospice Shop in Ruddington in the autumn of 2018. As the unprecedented lockdown continues across the UK, to try to halt the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus, this year’s Easter activities and celebrations in Ruddington will be mainly confined to people’s homes plus short trips out for exercise or essential shopping. A popular, Ruddington running event which attracts hundreds of participants each year is still taking place – but has gone online! So, rather than the usual crowds packed into Rushcliffe Country Park today, like many other things at the moment it will instead be a ‘remote’ experience. Play Area Virus Danger

With another spell of fine weather forecast, Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) is reminding parents and guardians that ALL its play areas are CLOSED until further notice due to the Coronavirus lockdown. These are at Elms Park, Sellors’ Playing Field (above), Vicarage Lane Playing Field (below) and St Mary’s Community Park. Promoters have announced the postponement of this weekend’s Rushcliffe 10K & Running Festival – which was due to take place in Rushcliffe Country Park on Sunday (1st March 2020). It’s been cancelled due to safely fears following severe flooding of parts of the course over the last fortnight after the almost unprecedented spell of rain. Ruddington’s third annual “Summer Fayre” is to be held on The Green on Saturday the 21st of July, and promises to be even bigger and better than last year’s. After the success of the first two events it’s again been organised for the village by the Events Team at Ruddington Parish Council – and will take place between midday and 6pm. The Forties with The Framework Knitters

Ruddington’s Framework Knitters Museum is hosting a FREE wartime extravaganza on Bank Holiday Monday, the 29th of May. Called ‘Swing Back to the 1940s’, the event turns back the clock to the Second World War, with staff and volunteers decked out in best 1940s regalia.
