With surprisingly little ‘fanfare’ this year, Ruddington’s much loved annual beer, cider, gin, food and music festival is back – running from today (Thursday 9th) until Sunday (12th June 2022), starting each day at noon. The popular, four-day, village event usually takes place each year following the second Bank Holiday in May. However, in 2020 ‘RuddFest’ was cancelled altogether due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then delayed by the Coronavirus until August last year. Now, in 2022, it’s very nearly on schedule again – just a week later because of last weekend’s ‘Platinum Jubilee’ celebrations…

Ruddington Beer Festival
RuddFest is back! This year, Ruddington’s annual beer, cider, gin, food and music festival is running from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th June 2022 – starting at midday each day. As usual, it will be centred around the main marquee on The Green (above) but, as last year, with The Frame Breakers, White Horse and Red Lion pubs joining in with the long weekend of festivities, too. Organisers ask you to drink responsibly – and come to RuddFest using public transport, if possible. CT4N Services 22 & 23, Nottingham City Transport’s Navy…

Ruddington’s much loved annual Beer and Cider Festival, which was cancelled completely in 2020 due to COVID-19, will go ahead this year – at the end of this month! In February, a decision was made to push back further the 3rd-6th June dates originally considered for RuddFest 2021 because some Coronavirus restrictions in England would still be in force. Organisers have now confirmed it’s taking place in our village from Thursday 26th August to Sunday 29th August – less than three weeks’ away. Once again the main organisers are The Three Crowns, The White Horse Inn…

Number 2 High Street has been at the heart of Ruddington since way back. When Glyn Thomas’s Greengrocers closed its doors in 2018, it sent a shockwave through the village and has been very much missed ever since. Having now been in residence there for almost two years, Alex and Anthony Preston, the owners of The Bottle Top, have some exciting news they hope you will love, and which will bring back the ‘essence’ of Number 2. The team at the new business have worked hard to bring something different…

It’s been revealed that Ruddington’s much loved annual Beer and Cider Festival – which usually attracts thousands of visitors – will not be taking place this June as planned, due to continuing concerns about COVID-19. The decision was made in the wake of the Government’s ‘roadmap’ announcement on Monday that restrictions on large events and some hospitality will not be lifted until June 21st at the earliest – which is after the originally scheduled RuddFest 2021 dates of June 3rd-6th. Last year’s event was first postponed and then cancelled altogether because of the Coronavirus…

Whilst the new wave of Coronavirus and a third ‘lockdown’ have forced some of our village shops to close yet again, husband and wife team Anthony and Alex Preston are continuing to provide us with all their usual supplies. These include plastic-free fruit and veg, dried zero waste goods such as rice, nuts and oats, local pastries…

Even though the business only opened in May 2019, there’s no doubt that Ruddington’s The Bottle Top has already become an integral part of village life for many residents – especially for craft beer fans and more environmentally conscious customers. Located in the premises previously occupied by the legendary Thomas’s Greengrocers, husband and wife team Anthony and Alex Preston certainly had some big shoes to fill at 2, High Street. However, it quickly became clear that their new business would be much more than just a ‘posh’ off-licence. They promised to bring this famous shop…

The old willow tree on The Green isn’t the only big thing that’s missing from our village this weekend. Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st May were also set to be the dates of RuddFest 2020 – Ruddington’s now legendary beer and cider festival. Like all village events – other than ‘virtual’ ones – it was cancelled a couple of months’ ago due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. However, a gradual easing of restrictions is creating hope that the annual festival might still take place this year. Organiser John Noble tells…

Of course, vital stay-at-home beer, cider and spirit supplies are plentiful, too! Given the unprecedented situation, owners Alex and Anthony…
