It’s been confirmed a Ruddington community venture which started over the summer, offering a chef-prepared, two-course lunch for just £1, will continue into next year – and also increase the number of diners it can accommodate. The twice monthly ‘Heat ‘n’ Eat’ meals, comprising good quality and wholesome, hot food, began at the end of June 2022. They are served-up in the peaceful and welcoming surroundings of St Peter’s Church. As the bitter winter weather bites, the venue has also become one of the ‘Warm Spaces’ in Ruddington where villagers struggling to heat…

Christmas 2022 in Ruddington
After the ‘lockdown’ Christmas of 2020, and the rather restrained festive season of 2021, Ruddington’s celebrations in 2022 look as if they might just be the biggest and best ever! That’s certainly the case for this weekend’s ‘Ruddington Christmas Market’ (on Saturday December 3rd) which, as previously reported, will comprise over a hundred indoor and outdoor stalls of food, drink and gifts, two covered pop-up bars and stages of live music, and children’s activities. Now organised by Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) it will take place along both High Street and Church Street (road closures…

Last month we reported how St Peter’s Church and Ruddington Parish Council were launching a village initiative to help those here who may struggle to both feed their families and heat their homes this winter. Whilst, thankfully, the Chancellor’s ‘Autumn Statement’ this week has left the current UK energy price caps in place throughout the coldest part of the year, already soaring gas and electricity costs are presenting a challenge for many in Ruddington. That’s why a public ‘Open Meeting’ was held in St Peter’s on October 18th 2022. Church member…

Despite the turmoil within our Government continuing – with the appointment of a new Chancellor of the Exchequer one of the recent changes – thankfully the latest gas and electricity price caps and £400 household energy rebates are not yet among the policies being reversed by Downing Street. Nevertheless, the soaring cost of everything, not just our fuel bills, means some Ruddington residents will still struggle to both feed their families and heat their homes this winter. The support website ‘Warm Welcome UK’ says: “There is an estimated £800 gap…

A new, community venture offering a chef-prepared, two-course hot meal for just £1 starts this week in Ruddington. It’s been made possible by financial support from Rushcliffe Borough Council, and the £1 cost also includes a soft drink. The first meal is on Monday 27th June 2022 at 1pm and all are welcome to book. Church member Liz Mack explains:…

If you tend to glance up at our Parish Church tower to check the time, when you’re making your way through Ruddington, you might have been rather misled lately. Even though the hands of St Peter’s clock may reassure you are not late for that midday appointment after all, they have actually been frozen at six minutes to twelve for quite some time! Indeed, there are two incorrect clock dials on the historic building. The most prominent of these is the south face of the tower – with a newer…
