Motorists attempting to get in and out of our village via the A52 this afternoon have found themselves diverted following a serious accident on Loughborough Road. Emergency services were scrambled to the A60 in Ruddington at around 2.50pm today after reports of an overturned car. Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue said that it involved just one vehicle in collision with a tree. Villagers are being asked to offer support to one of Ruddington’s most famous residents – who is out of action again following an accident earlier this week. ‘Petrol Powered’ Cyclist Injured in High Street Collision

Investigations are underway following an accident in Ruddington village centre involving a car and a cyclist riding an unusual, petrol-powered bicycle. The collision happened at around 10.15pm last night (Wednesday 27th November), at the junction of High Street and Kirk Lane, just outside The Frame Breakers pub. Incident Closes Clifton Road For Six Hours

Motorists trying to get between Ruddington and Clifton have found themselves facing a long diversion this evening (Thursday 12th September) after Clifton Road was closed to traffic. Officers put cordons in place – and blocked the route with police cars – to prevent access to and from Wilford Road at ‘Tavern Island’ after an accident near the end of Clifton Road. Flawforth Lane Closed After Diesel Spill

Motorists are unable to use Flawforth Lane in and out of Ruddington today following an incident just after midnight at the A52/A606 Wheatcroft Roundabout. Highways England said it was “due to an extensive diesel spillage. The A52 will need partly resurfacing.” The A52 was closed westbound between the A606 and the A60 for several hours overnight, but the agency reported it was partly reopened just before the morning rush hour today: “Lane 2 of two lanes is now flowing past the spillage and therefore the A52 is partly open.” However…

Injured Cyclist Thanks Residents

A cyclist who was hurt in a collision on his daily commute through Ruddington this morning has thanked villagers for rushing to help. Nick Shaw, who lives in Wymeswold, was just leaving Ruddington via Wilford Road (pictured above) when he was in collision with a lorry near Sellors’ Recreation Ground. The lorry failed to stop after the incident which happened at around 8.30am. Mr Shaw was unseated during the accident and nearby residents went to his aid.
