Revised Asher Lane Housing Plans

Last December we reported how Space Foods Ltd had decided to appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal to allow it outline planning permission for 175 new homes on Green Belt land it owns south of Musters Road – with access off Asher Lane. Those proposals were lodged in January 2017 – after a previous application for 250 houses on the same site was withdrawn two years earlier. The Borough Council refused this second application on THREE main grounds: 1) Noise. The developers didn’t indicate how they would deal with the noise…

Asher Lane Housing Appeal

Back in April we reported that Rushcliffe Borough Council had rejected plans to build 175 new homes on our Green Belt north of Asher Lane. The proposals (above) were lodged by land owners Space Foods Ltd in January after a previous application for 250 houses on the same site was withdrawn two years earlier. Now Space Foods is appealing to the Planning Inspectorate against Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal in an attempt to get this decision reversed. This site was, in fact, originally included in its Local Plan Part 2 as an area called RUD7 – where the Green Belt might be…

Parish Council Responds to Green Belt Plans

Following last week’s important public meeting on the future of Ruddington’s Green Belt in St Peter’s Rooms, Ruddington Parish Council has just published its own views – objecting to TWO of the proposed housing sites and also to the increased allocation of homes for our village. This is in response to Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s Local Plan Part 2 consultation which now earmarks Ruddington for 410 new houses – 64% more properties than the 250 first mooted. The current Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) consultation, which ends this Monday November 27th, is on the suitability of the remaining FOUR out…

Parish Council Consults on Green Belt Plans

An important meeting on the future of Ruddington’s Green Belt is being held in St Peter’s Rooms from 7.30pm tonight (Tuesday 14th November). Villagers are strongly encouraged to go along to give their views to Ruddington Parish Council on what its response should be to Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s Local Plan Part 2 consultation. Ruddington’s rural perimeter is now threatened with around 410 new homes  – that’s 64% more properties than first proposed. The latest Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) consultation, which runs until November 27th, is on the suitability of the remaining FOUR out of fourteen Green Belt sites…

Green Belt Housing Shortlist Consultation Begins

Ruddington’s rural perimeter is now threatened with around 410 new homes  – that’s 64% more properties than first proposed. The latest consultation, starting TODAY, is on the suitability of the remaining FOUR out of thirteen Green Belt sites originally earmarked by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) in their revised Local Plan for future housing development. You can read all the background >>HERE<<. The current shortlist (see new map above) was approved at an RBC Cabinet meeting last month at Rushcliffe Arena when, without discussion, the five members unanimously rubber-stamped the recommendation (below) of the “Local Plan Part 2: Preferred Housing Sites” report about which…

Council Continues the Consultation!

It would seem that it’s not all over yet when it comes to decisions about Ruddington’s Green Belt! A pivotal Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) Cabinet meeting took place on Tuesday 12th September in the Council Chamber at Rushcliffe Arena when the five key RBC members were tasked with acting upon the “Local Plan Part 2: Preferred Housing Sites” report. This is all about rescinding areas of the Green Belt in Rushcliffe to build new housing – including FOUR green field sites in Ruddington identified for over FOUR HUNDRED new homes. You can…

“Save Sellors’ Playing Field”

A group of Ruddington residents is calling on Rushcliffe Borough Councillors to reject plans to build 180 houses on an area of our village Green Belt (RUD1) because it includes a covenanted recreation ground which is also registered as an Asset of Community Value. RUD1 to the west of Wilford Road, which contains the community space, is one of the sites being recommended in RBC’s latest “Local Plan Part 2: Preferred Housing Sites” document. (Please click >>HERE<< for the background). As reported on RUDDINGTON.info last week, a cabinet meeting at Rushcliffe Arena TONIGHT will provisionally decide which…

Green Belt Gateways to Go?

It’s been revealed that key Rushcliffe Borough Councillors will decide at a meeting NEXT WEEK which sites in Ruddington will be removed from our Green Belt – in order to accommodate over FOUR HUNDRED new homes. This follows years of deliberation and two public consultations by the council – in 2016 and earlier this year – when villagers were invited to identify preferred sites out of the 14 proposed for Green Belt development. These are shown as RUD1 to RUD14 on the map. The original aim was to accomodate at least another…

Parish Council Favours “Southern Gateway” Housing

Ruddington Parish Councillors have voted in favour of recommending  just ONE additional site for potential Green Belt homes – off the A60 Mere Way roundabout (pictured). It follows the Annual Parish Meeting last night during which members of the public were invited to ask questions and comment on a further FOUR sites which Rushcliffe Borough Council has identified for possible new greenfield housing developments in Ruddington. These are shown as RUD11, RUD12, RUD13 & RUD14 on their latest map (below) adding to ten original sites aiming to accomodate “at least another 250 houses” on our Green Belt by 2028. You can…
