Villagers went to the polls yesterday (4th May 2023), to elect Ruddington’s three representatives on Rushcliffe Borough Council, and the results are now in.
With an impressive turnout of 43.1%, the three Labour Party candidates all secured many more votes than their Conservative & Green Party rivals, taking all three available seats. There were seven candidates standing for election in Ruddington Ward, who polled as follows:

Rushcliffe’s returning Officer, Katherine Marriott, declared the above result at lunchtime today. It means Cllrs Walker and Gaunt are re-elected to represent Ruddington Ward, whilst former Conservative Borough Cllr Gary Dickman has lost his seat to new Labour Cllr Graham Fletcher (pictured top right), who is also Chair of Ruddington Parish Council.
Cllr Jen Walker, who secured the most votes of all candidates, tells RUDDINGTON.info: “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the voters who came out and supported us. The trust is deeply humbling and will do everything in our power to live up to your expectations. Massive thanks to all the voters who exercised their right to vote, your participation is essential for our democracy.”
With results across all the other Wards also now in, the Conservatives still hold the majority on Rushcliffe Borough Council, although it has been reduced further. In total, 25 seats went to the Tories, 9 to Labour, 2 to The Green Party, 1 to the Liberal Democrats and 7 to independents.
